The Bill Engvall Show

I can’t remember the last time I was actually looking forward to a new show. Now with that said, there is certainly a 50/50 chance it will be a flop. Comedians coming from stand up to television have either been a smash, such as Jerry Seinfeld and Tim Allen, or a total flop, like Jeff Foxworthy.

I am not sure that the reason for their success or failure can totally be put on their shoulders. Although the material seems to wrap around their past routines, it still takes a lot more than just good stand up to translate to a successful show. Like, supporting cast members, production and PR.

Here’s hoping that The Bill Engvall Show is a smash, he has been my favorite comedian for years and I think he has what it takes to make the move to sitcom.

Good luck to Bill Engvall!

The premiere is tonight, Tuesday July 17, 2007 on TBS at 9/8c.

Kyle Petty Charity Ride

It’s that time of the year again, already. In the middle of the summer, when NASCAR takes a one week break between races, Kyle Petty holds his annual charity ride. The Kyle Petty Charity Ride has been held since 1995 and raises money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

The ride is sponsored by The Chick-fil-A and will cover 28,000 miles in 10 days. 275 participants will travel the East Coast k from New England to Florida.

Kyle & Pattie have done so much for the kids and we wish them well on this ride, and we never forget that the Camp was founded in honor of their son Adam, who died while practicing in a Busch Series car in May 2000.

Nissan recalling 140,000 Altima

This Nissan recall is for the Altima from 2007 because the air filter can catch fire if a hot object gets pulled in to it. A lot of these cars were made not to far from where I live at the Canton, Mississippi plant.

Out of curiosity I wanted to see how they would use their website to assist with this recall, however, the link for the recall returns an error. So I guess they will have to recall the recall page, lol.

UFC 73

Obviously the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) has gained a lot of fans. I have never been a fight fan, but realize that Boxing has faded fast as a main sport and it seems the UFC has filled that void.

The UFC is a mixed martial arts (MMA) organization based in the USA and is recognized as the major MMA promotion in North America. According to this Wikipedia article they have transformed themselves from an underground type organization to a legitimate sport.

UFC 73 was held on Saturday July 7, 2007.

Jeri Kehn Thompson

Jeri Kehn Thompson is the wife of presidential hopeful Fred Thompson. Seems the real issue is not about whether Fred would make a good President, but the age difference in their marriage and whether she is too hot for the White House.

Cmon people, let’s try to focus!

Dan Patrick

After 18 years Dan Patrick is leaving ESPN. I do pay attention to sports as much as I once did, but, Dan was a staple on ESPN and helped make it so popular years ago. There was a time when Sports Center was my default show whenever it was on, which was basically all the time.
Good luck Dan!

Google Gothic

I guess this should have been expected, a Google Gothic site, lol.

I tried several searches on this site, but all I got was error messages. Maybe Google doesn’t like being connected to the dark side.

Larry King

Just recently I have been watching more of Larry King.

2 interviews Larry did this week were about as far apart as you can imagine. First he interviewed Paris Hilton and it was obvious that he earned his pay for that one. There is not an hours worth of material in Paris Hilton.

Then later in the week he interviewed Robin Williams, now that was a treat. Robin Williams has always been amazing to watch. I can not think of another individual that can keep your interest live anytime anywhere for any length of time.

They are now replaying Larry King each day at 11am EST for those of us who are too old to stay up, thanks CNN.
