The sad fact is that we have reverted to lawsuits in order to get our way. We have become a society that depends on lawsuits to get what we want. We will sue for anything and everything. As a result we fail to resolve our disputes through principles, standards and dialogue. To become lawsuit happy, America has begun its down fall. There is a purpose in having the law. There is a purpose in having lawsuits, however, there is no purpose in encouraging litgation simply because one has had their feelings hurt. It is one thing to be upset over a person praying to a God you may not beleive in. It is entirely another to file lawsuit against a public prayer because one had to listen to another pray. We are so self-indulgent we do not realize what good is anymore. Good is relative. If it does not involve me then I must sue in order to keep it from being good for others. What despair we have caused. Why do we even exist accept for self. That is pretty empty. How many lawsuit cases by the ACLU are for small groups of people seeking to control the majority. When we take from one unvolutarily and give it to another we have created socialism, not democracy.

The problem with your analysis is that you conclude from a news article that the ACLU will sue just because "something 'promoted religion.'" (emphasis added) In fact, the ACLU only sues when the government promotes religion. The ACLU also sues when the government inhibits religion.

In fact, if you'd spent as many years closely involved with the ACLU as I have, you'd know that the ACLU fights just as hard for the individual free exercise of religion, including Christianity, as the ACLU fights against government establishment, sponsorship, and/or endorsement of religion. For a few of the many factual examples proving my point, see this link: The ACLU Fights for Christians
