Tunguska event

The Tunguska event is fascinating. It is amazing to read about something of this magnitude that I had never heard of.

I came across it in my morning feeds as I am subscribed to This Day in History which is a pretty fun and educational subscription.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The new Wedding Vows

I laughed so hard when I saw this, it probably is pretty close to the truth, I guess that is what makes it so funny. Wedding vows are certainly not what they used to be.

Happy Birthday Donald Duck

There are always important things to say and blog about, and this is just one of those things.

Donald Duck is 73 as of June 9th, 2007.

I wonder if any of the new generations of character creations will be around in 70 years?

Dancing Flashbacks

All I needed was more reminders of my age!

Judson Laipply does an excellent job of taking us through The Evolution of Dance, and in the process gives me flashbacks for every song and dance that is represented in his routine.

An Illegal Alien Allegory

I received this in an email, and there is no obvious credit given to the original author. It is worth posting. Excellent analogy of the Illegal Alien debate.

“Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the U.S. Might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let’s say I break into your house. Let’s say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, “I’ve made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I’ve done all the things you don’t like to do. I’m hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).”

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family’s insurance plan and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hardworking and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It’s only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I’m just trying to better myself. I’m hardworking and honest .. Um, except for the … Well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being anti-housebreaker.

Did I miss anything? Does this sound reasonable to you?”

Duck swallows Alien?

Finally, proof, 100% full proof, aliens do exist. And they are really small, not so smart and obviously very slow. How else could you explain the fact that a duck, yes, a duck swallowed an alien? Or was this a super duck ? We may never know, but, I will bet the xray sells for a lot of money on eBay!

New Blogs and stuff…

It seems I always have some little pet project I am playing with on the computer. I have been programming for over 20 years now and still find it fun and challenging. My latest project is BlogSnare. Just a little button map for Blogs across the net. Not much happening so far, but it was fun to put together. I had a lot of editorial help on the functions and layouts from my good friend Don Hampton. He is obviously having a lot of fun with his latest project, Geeky Gizmos, Gadgets and Toys. Thanks for the help Don !!

Another Week

It seems every Sunday night I reflect on how another weekend just flew by and tomorrow it’s time to go back to work. Working on Saturday shortens the weekend up considerably. But, I guess as long as I got some things done I can call it a success. I spent several hours working on this Blog template and some other programming projects. And as always, I had my NASCAR/nap this afternoon.

New Design

I finally settled on Bloglines for the Blogroll and Del.icio.us for my Links. I have been using Bloglines for over a year now as my main RSS Reader and have been extremely satisfied with it. I tired several other solutions but nothing gave me the ease of use and features that Bloglines offer.

Del.icio.us is rather new to me, but, a solution I have been needing for years. Social Bookmarking is clearly a step in the right direction for a Netizen.
