My wife added “Searching For Sasquatch” and “Tornado Chasing” to her bucket list.

And just as the family says, I think like a database, so the first thing that comes to mind is I need a database of Sasquatch sightings and cross query them against a database of Tornados. See where I am going with this? Now to think like a guy and try and kill two birds with one stone, I would think that I could get a location to jump out of that data set fairly easy.

Now, getting that data could be the fun part. And away we go…

Looking forward to the Open Mic Night tonight at The Horse’e Mouth Bookstore and Coffee Shop.

Each month THM host their Open Mic Night on the 3rd Friday. There is a great group of local musicians who come out and play along with a great group of people who come to support them. If you like live music in a small forum this is the place to be, and the coffee and smoothies are excellent.

Talk about a love hate relationship, me and watching the Cowboys. I was raised a Cowboy fan, and I despised Jerry Jones when he fired the beloved Tom Landry, but I could not stop being a Cowboy fan. And now long after the Jimmy Johnson era I still have to root for Dallas.

So here we are, a couple years into the Tony Romo era, and things are not going exactly the way we would like, oh yeah, we got the stadium of stadiums to play in, but if we can’t win games, who cares.

I have to admit that I can not stay away from looking at old cars. Whether I have the time and money to invest in one or not, it is just something I do. I guess I take after my father, he was always looking at old cars.

The Mustangs have always been a favorite of mine, and this list of 1968 Mustang for Sale really grabbed my attention. There is a car here for all types of Mustang fans. From a torn down project car to a totally restored 68 Shelby.

If nothing else I enjoy just looking at the range of restoration people have done to their old car.

Last night I decided to treat my husband and I to some fast food as I was in the mood for something fattening. We went to Taco Bell and both ordered a #7 which is a drink, taco, and quesadilla. The total bill was $10.50. We got home and were concerned because the bag was small and light. The order was there. The taco was as usual. But the quesadilla which was supposed to be chicken had mostly cheese and possibly chicken on it. It was so flat and small that it didn’t even make a meal. I ended up making sandwiches after we had our Taco Bell snack.

Now I know it’s difficult to get consistency at chain restaurants, but this was ridiculous. So if you want an even exchange of food for your dollar this is not the place to go. This Taco Bell is located in the Castlewoods area of Brandon and is number 18271.

In today’s economic situation we need our dollars to buy more not less. I would not suggest this location to anyone.

How about that, first week lost 4 lbs. Not too bad, although I know the first couple weeks are the easiest to lose, I am still happy with it.

I was a little surprised I was able to maintain it especially since I had some Tamales from San Antonio, but tradition is tradition. Whenever my wife or I get a chance to go to Texas we have to bring back some Mexican Food from South Texas. 

Now let’s see if I can keep this program going!

Ok, I admit it, and that has to be the first step. I need to lose weight. Over the years I have continues to gain weight and use my medical problems as an excuse, well no more. I have started and stopped losing weight on several occasions, but this time I WILL succeed.

I have decided to lose 30lbs and do it with a very simple diet plan that has worked before. I am cutting back on calories and increasing calorie burning activities. That is it, the whole deep dark secret diet program.

And if I can get back down to a 32″ waist I will be thrilled.

If you like old cars like I do, it is always fun to find a new resource for parts. 2 sites I came across that I thought were really interesting in their approach was 1966 Parts & 1967 Parts. Instead of focusing on car models or manufacturer these sites focus on the year and each offers a newsletter to help keep you posted on any new parts they find for the respective years. Pretty cool.

I have to admit it, one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving are the Thanksgiving side dishes.

Yeah, I know, everyone wants the Turkey and Ham, but me, I love the green bean casserole, stuffed jalapenos, and potato salad. 

Each year it seems that our Thanksgiving dinner takes on a new twist, and this year will be no different. I think it will be one of the few Thanksgiving dinners we have had without any family besides our 2 kids. Of course as they get older we seem to have a few visitors with each meal, and then they all run off with their friends. 

Another one of life’s seasons that is changing right before our eyes!

Today, November 11th is Veterans Day. 

I always thought Veterans Day should be more recognized as a Holiday. What do we celebrate during the year that is more important than the men and women who protect our great country?

Thanks to everyone who has ever served in our armed forces, without you we would not be able to appreciate the great freedoms that we as a country have!

This is the time of the year I can actually enjoy the Mississippi weather.

I spent a lot of time in South Texas and I always thought that was the most hot and humid weather there was, until I moved to Mississippi. In July and August the heat and humidity is the worst I have ever felt.

But now, it’s great, the Mississippi weather has turned very nice just in the last couple of weeks.

Now if it will just stay like this for awhile.

My kids have no clue what a rotary phone is, and they certainly do not remember Internet access via dialup. They think email is old school. If they can not send and receive messages instantly they think they have missed out on something.

Postage? Get real, you want me to mail something, now why would I waste my time and money on postage.

I have 2 teenagers, both girls. It seems there is always a guest in our house. It may be just one additional kid, or a whole house full, but, I am going to start taking their pictures and hanging them on the wall so I can remember who they are.

One thing I have learned is how to clear the room any time I want. 5 words, that’s all it takes. And here is how to accomplish this unbelievable feat.

Just get in the room with the kids. Listen carefully (but not obviously) to the conversations you hear. And yes I said conversations, that’s plural, because where there are teenagers there are multiple conversations taking place at one time. When you hear something that you can relate to as a youth, just say the magic phrase.

“When I was your age…..”

That’s it, no need to even finish the sentence, the kids will roll their eyes and quickly make an exit. Usually while taunting me with, “yeah, yeah, we know, you walked to school in the snow uphill both ways and were thankful”

Well, I did.

I am married with 2 teenage daughters. We have 2 female dogs and 2 female cats.

Is it any wonder I am a geek?

Oh yeah, there is one male Gerbil left, although we have not spent much time together.

Things that I can’t grasp.

  • Didn’t we just buy a 24 roll pack of toilet paper.
  • Why do they have to straighten their hair?
  • How much does makeup cost?
  • That bug is smaller than your fingernail, step on it!
  • How many pair of shoes is in that closet?
  • Start getting ready for a 7pm movie at 2pm.

Things that help me survive.

  • Internet
  • Soduko
  • Poker
