Dan Patrick

After 18 years Dan Patrick is leaving ESPN. I do pay attention to sports as much as I once did, but, Dan was a staple on ESPN and helped make it so popular years ago. There was a time when Sports Center was my default show whenever it was on, which was basically all the time.
Good luck Dan!

The Big Show with Dan and Keith was the staple of my college life. They were (and will forever be) the best duo to host it.
About 9 years ago I dated a girl that was a producer at MSNBC. One night I stopped by to pick her up to take her for dinner and she showed me around the studio. As we were walking on the cat walk above the studio she pointed to an office and said it was Keith’s and asked if I would like to meet him. She introduced me as her boyfriend and I shook his hand. I told him how much I admired him and then commented that he and Dan were the best thing on ESPN – that I loved their show.
Keith promptly turned around, without saying a word, shut the door on me and walked away.
I hope Dan never gets that jadded!

I have never figured out why people get like Keith when it was the fans that made him who he is.

And Sports Center certainly is not the same as it was in those “Glory Years” with Dan and Keith.

The talk around CBS-TV is that Dan has been contacted about replacing Bob Barker as the host for “The Price Is Right.” Is Dan’s departure, and a new host for TPIR needed by September merely a coincidence? Hmmmm…..

Hey Gary, thanks for the info. I heard that Dan was denying this rumor, but we all know how that goes.
