My wife added “Searching For Sasquatch” and “Tornado Chasing” to her bucket list.

And just as the family says, I think like a database, so the first thing that comes to mind is I need a database of Sasquatch sightings and cross query them against a database of Tornados. See where I am going with this? Now to think like a guy and try and kill two birds with one stone, I would think that I could get a location to jump out of that data set fairly easy.

Now, getting that data could be the fun part. And away we go…

This year is definetly going to be different than any I have experienced.

After jumping into playing music last year, live music now takes a lot of my spare time. I know it is driving my wife crazy because she was used to me having nothing to do in my non work time and now I am constantly on the go.

I need to work on balancing time more than I ever have before.

Ok, time to go practice my music!

Last year I posted that I was going to start playing the guitar. I never thought I would play so much, have so much fun, and get paid for it.

It was an awesome year for me and I want to thank my brother Mike Withrow. We started playing as a duo under the name Withrow Cooley in June and had a blast all year long. Looking forward to a full year in 2012 of playing and having fun!

After blogging for almost 10 years, I still find myself not keeping a good rhythm, so 2012 will be the year I focus on micro blogging from here.

I have always thought the biggest problem for me was the time it took to prepare what I thought would be a good blog post. So one solution is to just blog from the hip and see where that goes.

For probably the 5th time in the last 30 years I have decided to start playing the guitar again. Over the years I have played on and off without much passion. I even had the chance to play with some really good musicians when I was in Madison, Mississippi but I did not take advantage of that time.

Not sure what the change is. I now have a very large room that doubles as my office and TV room. The guitars are all located in this room and I find myself picking up one of them each day and playing at least a little.

My learning curve is strange. Seems things I tried to learn years ago now fall into focus and I feel like I am making some leaps in playing ability.

Of course it helps to have several members of my family also playing a lot and inspiring me. Thanks everyone!

Although I am not a fan of either the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Green Bay Packers I will still be tuned into the Super Bowl. Hopefully it will be a good game and the Packers will come out on top. As a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan I just can’t imagine a situation where I would root for the Steelers, lol.

My wife has always teased me that the only books I read are manuals or reference books.

When I was younger I liked to read, I just always found the way I had to read as a pain. I needed the right chair, in the right light, available anytime I wanted to read. Due to these constraints I have not been much of a reader.

Ereading fits me perfectly. I can read on my iPhone whenever I have a few minutes available, from anywhere. For the first time in a very long time I am enjoying reading again, using Amazon’s Kindle for the iPhone app.

Another benefit I found was that ereading also fit my budget. The first book I purchased was $9.99 on Kindle, compared to $29.95 at a bookstore.

I guess the one downside is that I do not have the hard copy to place in my library. But considering I don’t really have a library, except for all those computer manuals and programming reference books, this is not that big of a deal to me.

Let me be candid. I can not read a bill such as the Health Care Reform and really understand it. At the same time, I can not believe any politician to tell me the truth.

As far as politicians go, I think it is to the point that each party just wants to NOT support whatever the other party does, plain and simple.

Parts of the Health Care Reform sound good to me, but other parts are just out of my grasp. So why should I believe the Republicans that it is bad, and why should I believe the Democrats that it is good?

Personally I think the US Government is too big and bad.

As an example what sense does paying tax on what you earn make? Really, think about it. Let’s penalize everyone who earns more, success = more tax, really makes ya want to live the American Dream doesn’t it.

The Fair Tax plan makes sense to me, if you want to spend money, you pay tax, if you want to be frugal you can pay less tax, it’s up to you.

So where does that put me, Repuplican? Democrat? Tea Party?

And who can I believe?

I heard someone on TV say that a New York Yankee vs Philadelphia Phillies matchup would get a lot more people interested.

Well, for me I am hoping for a San Francisco Giants vs Texas Rangers World Series. Texas is my favorite team, and I like rooting for the underdog, so that matchup would mean a lot more to me.

Go Texas Rangers !

Yeah, finally the start of the 2010 NCAA football season!

Hook em Horns, gonna be strange watching the Texas Longhorns play without Colt McCoy, although Garrett Gilbert has the potential to lead the Longhorns to a very successful year.

Texas starts the season ranked 5th on the AP Poll, and 4th on the USA Today Poll.

I have the PGA championship 2010 on the TV with the sound turned down while I am working. I am interested to see how Tiger Woods preforms, but it’s funny what get’s my attention when semi-watching something like this.

I want to know who is in charge of John Daly’s wardrobe?

And what possible statement is he trying to make. Really, Bright orange shirt with red and white diamond checked pants. Silliest looking thing I have seen on a golf course.

Emmitt Smith is the last of the “Dallas Cowboys Triplets” to enter the Hall of Fame, following Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin.

What  a legacy those three left behind. Not sure we will ever see three players on one team dominate like they did.

Emmitt was and is a class act. Remember, he was too small to play in the NFL, lol. Someone just forgot to tell him about that.

It is so hot, I can not walk to the mailbox without needing another shower. And it is 9:00 pm!

There is no way this heat is any worse than most summers in North East Texas. So it must have something to do with my age. I don’t really remember that clearly, but I must have either not been affected so much, or I just did not care when I was younger.

Either way, this is just plain miserable.

Each month THM host their Open Mic Night on the 3rd Friday. There is a great group of local musicians who come out and play along with a great group of people who come to support them. If you like live music in a small forum this is the place to be, and the coffee and smoothies are excellent.
