My kids have no clue what a rotary phone is, and they certainly do not remember Internet access via dialup. They think email is old school. If they can not send and receive messages instantly they think they have missed out on something.

Postage? Get real, you want me to mail something, now why would I waste my time and money on postage.

I saw an advertisement recently for a new DVD of Looney Tunes. These were the best cartoons of my childhood and we also had some great TV shows to watch, Gilligans Island, Hogan Heroes, The Brady Bunch and Andy Griffith just to name a few.

It is so different now for my kids, there are entire channels devoted to the kids. The major channels that I am familiar with are the Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. Disney has a revolving door of shows and stars it has created over time and they just kept creating more.

American Dragon: Jake Long
Cory In the House
Hannah Montana
High School Musical
Lilo & Stitch: The Series
That’s So Raven
The Emperor’s New School
The Replacements
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody
Phineas and Ferb

But I still miss my old favorites like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig.

My 2 teenagers pitched in a bought me a Mahalo White Flying V Ukulele. I had been looking at the Ukulele as a potential new instrument since seeing the Jake Shimabukuro video of him playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps. If you have not seen it, check it out.

The kids gave me the Uke on Saturday so I could have fun all weekend, and that is exactly what I did.

What really impressed me was how much stuff is on the web for the Ukulele, you can get all the chord diagrams and tabs just like for the guitar, but, there are a lot of interactive lesson sites that play the song and show the chord diagram as the song plays. I wll post some of these links later.

Thanks girls !!

The television show Numbers is one of my favorites. I guess that really shows my geek side. Although they push the envelope a little, numbers and math are definetly a major part of life.

I have been reflecting on numbers for this year, and how my age is starting to show.

31 – Years since I lost the vision in my right eye. I guess since it was at an early age is the reason it does not seem as critical as other things, although I am reminded everytime I open my eyes.

14 – Years since I did chemotherapy. And it amazes me how it has stayed with me. There are a few scars to remind me, but, things that happened during chemotherapy and that entire year are just lodged in my soul. Along with the tastes, scents and sounds that still haunt me just a little.

10 – Years since my mother passed away, in some ways it seems like she was here just yesterday, and at other times it seems like 20 years ago. And I miss her all the time.

4 – Years since my open heart surgery. Now that one is still with me daily. It took me 2 years just to get over the effects of the surgery. And there are some really big scars.

19 – Years I have been happily married to my lovely wife. And if you look at some of the previous numbers you can see that I needed the help to keep going. There is not a better woman, or person on this planet.

14 & 18 – Years my kids have graced my life. Oh sometimes they make me want to scream, but, for the most part they are good kids. And I can not imagine how empty my life would have been without them.

Yep, I am getting old. Where’s my cane…..

My lovely wife has been away for a few days, and I am soooo glad she is back !!

I will admit that my teenage daughters are not as hard to take care of as they once were, but, I know that my wife does so much on a daily basis to make our family run smoothly. I consider myself a pretty good man when it comes to helping around the house, however, keeping up with the kids and all their functions is a little overload on top of my daily work and duties.

My wife would call and start asking me about things that I had no clue. And if I did not write it down, well, you can just assume I forgot it.

Welcome home !!!
