Dorothy Hamill Haircut
Is everything going retro, or am I just getting that old. I swear I have seen a couple young ladies with a Dorothy Hamill Haircut recently. Of course, I guess this should not surprise me. They don’t want to admit it, but a lot of the hairstyles today are retro hairstyles.
And the music is the same way, I hear kids all the time talking about Classic Rock bands like they were just discovered. Hey, did you hear the NEW Aerosmith song, it’s the bomb man !

Links of interest for October 13th 2008: Video games and music | Playing along [The Economist] - “As the music industry searches for a new model in the age of digital distribution and internet piracy, it is getting a helping hand from an unexpected quarter: video games such as “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band”, which let people play along to songs on simplified imitation instruments. “These games are revitalising the industry,” says Aram Sinnreich, an industry expert at New York University. “They’
Gone Tomorrow: Georgia Satellites, “Open All Night”
Howdy, gang! Have you missed reading Cutouts Gone Wild!? You have? Good, ’cause I’ve missed writing it — and even though I’m still of the belief that the rising tide of digital reissues has eliminated the need for a column about cutouts, there are still plenty of flops to talk about, so as of right this moment, I’m starting a new column devoted to that very subject — specifically, flops that followed hits, and enjoyed all the high expectations and large promotional budgets that every album hope
Some rock bands are making more money from Guitar Hero releases than from their albums:...Aerosmith have made more money from "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" (pictured above), a version of the video-game that features the band, than from any of their albums. Mr Kotick [of Activision] has even suggested that rather than expecting games companies to pay to license their music, bands should pay to have their music included in games. ...Metallica's new album Death Magnetic" was made available as a downloa
Musical Monday #61 - Various!
Last week, I nearly slipped. Yes, I admitted to liking a song by Miley Cyrus something off the telly. Which I can make no promises, I am hoping I will never again admit - let alone publish - a Hannah Montana er.. something random like that. The most flak I received was from my childhood friend, Jamie. We grew up from the age of 10 or 11 together, and pretty much loved all the same sort of music. To be fair, it was only right that he was the one to scold me. So, in the way of an apology
Converse Celebrates 100 Years Combining Classic Bands With Classic Shoes
Converse is celebrating 100 years of converse with a new line of the Classic “Chuck Taylor” All Stars. 100 years, really? That’s right. Converse started up 100 years ago in 1908 as Converse Rubber Corporation. Nine years later the Converse All Star basketball shoe was born. Still a timeless classic that has survived through almost a century of changes in footwear fashion and design. Very few things have lasted so long without deviating too far from the original design. As part of their new de

Week in Games: Strategic Dismemberment [New Releases]
Dead Space and Saints Row 2 are this week’s highly anticipated AAA-drops, coming out on Tuesday. Age of Booty for XBLA (Wednesday) and Thursday (PSN) is the DLC highlight. Sports fans get Blitz: The League II on Monday and FIFA Soccer 09 on five platforms on Tuesday. I’ve gotta be a little more strategic about my rentals, so I might take a peek at Saints Row 2; Dead Space I may not buy this week just for the backlog, but it’ll definitely be on my screen sometime soon. What about yours? Full lis

Eminem - The Eminem Show (May 28, 2002, technically)
Eminem's third album, The Eminem Show, is notable for the fact that it was the first rap album (to my knowledge) to have its release date pushed up to a day not traditionally known for new releases (Sunday) due to rampant bootlegging. It was technically available for sale on May 26, 2002, and I ran out to get my copy from a Target around my way: however, not every retail outlet got the memo from Interscope Records, so some states put The Eminem Show on the shelves on Tuesday, May 28. Regardless,
The 21 Hottest Italian Women Alive
Happy Columbus Day, you lucky people who get Monday off from work! The Italian explorer Christopher Columbus braved the murky Atlantic Ocean in search of silk, spices and other wonders of China and India (the countries he was attempting to find). Instead he landed right smack into the Bahamas, a happy accident that eventually resulted in the “discovery” of the good ol’ United States. In honor of this national holiday, Scandalist is exploring Columbus’ homeland and the goods Italy is infamous

I suppose I really shouldn’t burden everyone with a Sunday Salon post today, since I haven’t had much time for reading, and probably won’t. M and I are getting ready to set out tomorrow morning on a three-week trip to Texas, to visit family and friends, and start scouting retirement locales. So my reading today has been confined to various reminder lists:Have mail held. CheckStop newspapers. CheckDon’t forget to pack prescriptions. CheckDon’t forget to pack undies. CheckStop whimpering.
