Respect, it’s a thing of the past

Respect is something that has been lost on people and it is getting to the point where respect will soon be extinct, at least in Amercia.
There is a new cartoon television show about our current President. Like him or not, this is not good. It is one thing to have free speech, it is entirely different to be disrespectful of your leaders and country in a manner that makes the world look at us as a democracy run amuck.
And we wonder why the rest of the world no longer respects us, we do not respect ourselves.
If you’re new here, you [...]

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough: "If Al Franken steals enough votes ... "

MSNBC's Morning Joe, talking about pirates and elections, courtesy of Media Matters. All I know is that it is 2008 and the advancement of modern elections hinge on paper ballots (take a close look at the Take America Back website). I miss those mechanical lever voting machines, never to be seen again anywhere in New York. Damn HAVA (Help Amercia Vote Act ... also know as the Hack America's Vote Act).

Obama Campaign Reaches Out To Deaf Community!

.fullpost{display:inline;}But Eisenhour understands what most people don't - that sometimes there are people on the other end of that line. The numbers - which give a pattern of electronic beeps and clicks - typically are discarded as faxes or computer modems. However, some connect to the homes and lives of people in the deaf community who communicate with a special text telephone called TTY.“This is our trial run,” Eisenhour said. “They've worked up a list of numbers for us here.“Some of them mi

Coldplay Lovers in Japan

Coldplay’s music video for Lovers In Japan, directed by Mat Whitecross in London, provides a pastiche of effects using ’screen within screen’, spiralling, fluorescent lyrics, fireworks and paper butterflies. The video is framed with shots the band seen through television screens from the 1960s and 1970s. Members of the band are shown writing samples of the lyrics and associated images in glowing neon on the screen. The video ends with butterfly-shaped confetti raining on the band. Click o

Unions must be part of shared sacrifice in New York

This was an editorial in today’s Democrat and Chronicle.  The unions have become far too powerful in this country.  70 years ago, when no regulations were put in place to protect the worker, they were necessary.  Now, they are a main reason why corporations like General Motors are going down hill as fast as they are.  The only true way for General Motors and Ford to be successful is to vastly scale back health care and pensions for retirees.  Before one bolt is put into a GM car, the first $3,0

Aaron Russo (for David Swanson)

Posted by willyloman on November 11, 2008 by Scott Creighton **UPDATED** I want you to understand David, this is not meant to be insulting in any way.  As I mentioned before on Op Ed News, your new efforts to call for serious restructuring of the banking system reminded me of this; of Aaron Russo’s efforts to call attention to the corruption in the banking industry. I doubt you have seen it. It will be well worth your time. There is now a summary after the videos. Now remember, Russo was talk

Rebuilding the Republican Party -- part eight

As Louis suggested in a recent comment, and as I've written over and over, one of the main reform measures the Republican Party must take is an end to corporate welfare. Integrity can not be established unless the feeding trough in Washington DC is destroyed. This is the crux of the whole problem with an unlimited government -- it allows an unholy alliance of government and corporations. Corporations today, for the most part, are but extensions of government. This alliance has to be ended so th

‘Captain America’ finds director!

Joe Johnston is the man who will be directing Marvel’s “First Avenger: Captain Amercia,” according to the Hollywood Reporter. Johnston, who worked in the visual effects departments on “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and three “Star Wars” movies, made his directorial debut with “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” in 1989. Other directing credits include “Jumaji,” “Jurassic Park III” and “Hidalgo.” Johnston is currently wrapping up “The Wolf Man,” with Benicio Del Toro in the lead. “Captain America” is sch

Sunday News in Ireland

THERE ARE SOME INTERESTING tech items in the Sunday newspapers today, starting with sleeve art that I found in the Sunday Times Magazine. The new viral art form started as a bit of fun in South Wales, and now advertising campaigns and publishers are getting in on the Sleeveface phenomenon. [1] We open today's 11-minute [19 MB 3GP] Qik video with a key frame from an album of French film soundtracks (at left). Also in the Sunday Times, I suggest just capping expenses paid to the public sector in

Court Backs Illinois on License Plates

Illinois Choose Life Inc had hoped to force the state to carry anti choice license plates as some other states are doing. Illinois chose neutrality on the issue and a federal appeals court agreed. ”It has authorized neither a pro-life plate nor a pro-choice plate,” the court said. ”It has done so on the reasonable rationale that messages on specialty license plates give the appearance of having the government’s endorsement, and Illinois does not wish to be perceived as endorsing any position

Finally! Democracy has been practiced in Amercia!

Finally! Democracy has been practiced in Amercia! by Chris Spangle ~ November 5th, 2008 I couldn’t agree more on this. Also, the notion that your side is the “Real America” is dumb, and you should stop saying it. Also the phrase “A President for all Americans” is equally stupid, and it shows your bias. The President of any party is the President. The media and Democrats now believe that since they are in power, everyone will finally be bipartisan. It will never happen. I don’t like Obama, a

We Need God In Amercia Again

"If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

US-Cambodians Worry After Obama Threat

A number of Cambodian-American supporters of presidential hopeful Barack Obama voiced concern over his safety after they learned this week of an alleged plot to assassinate him. Authorities on Tuesday arrested two men in Tennessee, Paul Schelesselman, 18, and Daniel Cowart, 20, on suspicion they had planned to shoot Obama and several black students. The two men allegedly followed white supremacist beliefs. Obama is the first black man in US history to run for president under a major party,

Traitor To America and Our Troops Murtha Vs. Lt. Colonel Bill Russell (USAR ret.) HERO!

Murtha continues his tirade in the 12th Congressional District. In this FOX NEWS report he says NO God damn way. Taking Murtha Down? Human Events Voters are beginning to realize that the longtime congressman does not share their values, says Russell. “What Mr. Murtha did was attribute the lowest possible motivations to our voters,” he says. “The people in this area tend to vote their values. To say that they are simply racist because they won’t vote for Obama overlook

Generation We - WE are Change

I came across an awesome video from Generation We today and had to share it. Some key points that I took from the 5 minute clip and my commentary:If we spread out the national debt, every American would be responsible for $30,000 (not including their college loans, credit card debt, failed mortgages and everything else)Generation We volunteers in record numbers (like the concert we are throwing in less than 3 weeks in Orlando where we have over 100 volunteers, 100 Gen-Y band members, 2 local com

Blogfight: Red Rod vs Blue Ed on RCP

Jump to Comments Two contrasting visions, presented in response to a Pat Buchanon article, on Real Clear Politics, seem to sum up much of this election. I’ve decided to rescue them from internet oblivion. Maybe they’ll last a few days longer on this humble blog… Ed Banks, Oct 28, 03:46 AM: Pat, Get use to it. Real change is coming to America, stupid. Let me help you with a more worthy list of the changes to expect: 1. Iraq comes to an end speedily, saving us much needed $1 trillion and our reput
