Fuel Efficient Cars Used

That is the goal!
Currently I own 2 vehicles, a large family car and a pickup truck. I have always considered a pickup truck a necessity. Even if it is not driven daily, every man needs a pickup truck. However, with the price of fuel it is time to go back to a more fuel efficient car, and since I do not want any payments the only option is to find a good used fuel efficient car.
The car of choice for me is an old Volkswagen Beetle, the downside is that the Beetle was never a great car when it comes [...]

My new old car…

As I have posted just recently, I love Classic cars. To me this means “old cars”, which can be anything pre 1980 and typically my favorites are anything made in the 1960’s.

My new project is a car I bought sight unseen, and I think it will work out just fine. It’s a 1965 Plymouth Valiant 100.
Thanks to the internet, decoding all the serial numbers is pretty easy. It only took me 30 minutes or so to decode all the numbers I could find on the car, including the VIN, Engine code and Fender Tag.
I will be posting periodically [...]

My Love of Cars and Classic Cars

I have always been a car fan. From the time I was a small child my father always had a few cars sitting around he was working on, or as he woud say, “piddling with”. And if I had just a few of the cars I saw come and go in our garage I could retire right now.
My first car was a hand me down 1967 Ford LTD. It was not the typical car my friends were driving, but I loved that car. With a 390 V8 it was a cruiser, a very fast cruiser at that. The hot car [...]

vintage car insurance is Important for all Classic European Cars

All Collector car owners need to understand antique car insurance for their ride. Insurance requirements in Arkansas make it required to have proper insurance. Standard insurance for your Nova can be wildy expensive because of the cost of repair. Am I Guaranteed Satisfaction? Lincoln are the most accident prone vehicles, according to Arkansas records. They are the most expensive to insure. My gasman Teresa found that out the hard way. They wrecked their Buick and it was totaled. Their insura

My wife and I Entered the 1964 Jeep in a Show ‘n Shine and Will Go Again Next Year

I took a regional antique car show here in Ames, Texas. It was organized by the local Fire Marshal by the name of Robert Shelby. The Fire Marshal is a car fanatic from way back, having a small part in the film "S.U.V. Driving Lady". A love of cars was fostered slowly. I entered my 1964 Jeep in the cruise with the desire of impressing my friends :). I spent four hours getting the Jeep. I had done my research on the Jeep by going over to vin number checker for a check at the accuracy of the ca

When old Wall Street hands -- I mean those who know what they are talking about, not the charlatans and the promoters and the ivory-tower academics who are wrongly described as market experts by the mainstream media -- think about what prices might do next (no one can know for sure, of course), they often look at the data from a variety of different angles. Is the era of easy credit over for the long haul?

Is the era of easy credit over for the long haul? October 13th, 2008 An inflatable gorilla beckoned from the roof of Don Brown Chevrolet in St. Louis, servers doled out free bowls of pasta and a salesman urged potential customers to “come on up under the canopy and put your hands on” a new set of wheels. But sitting across from a salesman in a quiet back room, Adrian Clark could see it would not be nearly that easy. This was the ninth or tenth dealership for Clark, a steamfitter looking for

A New Main Street and Chili Dogs

The city of Sulphur Springs renovated downtown Main Street and held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate.  It was literally the street that got the facelift.  From tired concrete pavement to red brick pavers, landscaping, and ornate lamp posts, the new Main Street is now ready to welcome in upcoming dress shops, an art gallery, a winery, a sports bar and much awaited ciboVino restaurant. The kiddos & I headed down to join the fun and hang out in the middle of the street before it was off

A day in Uruguay - Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay

Jump to the full entry & travel map Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay Uruguay is South America's premier beach destination with international resorts, casinos, and some of the best beaches in the world.  This is where the people from Rio go for beach holidays. Uruguay is just on the other side of the river from Buenos Aires, so I thought I'd hop over and get some sun for a day or two, but it's been cold and rainy the entire week - I wanted to see Uruguay, but wasn't keen on walking t

I Entered my 1960 Buick in a Regional Competition and Was Swamped with Questions

I took a church-sponsored antique car show here in Denison, Iowa. It was put together by the local Councilperson by the name of Kristin Kimberly. The Councilperson is a movie fan from way back, having a small part in the film "Radiaciones". A love of cars was fostered over the years. I entered a small antique car show here in Central City, Nebraska. It was run by the local Councilperson by the name of Theodore Vireday. Siding to Nowhere

This appears to have been one of those times that I built something up in my mind a little too grandly, but in my own defense, I think that’s what they intended. “One track” thinking does that to you sometimes. Waa-Tee-Kaa undoubtedly once was fabulous. You can see its bygone grandeur in the wrought-iron guardrails, the leaded jewel-glass inserts over the windows, the understated opulence of the short, sharp syllables of the transliterated name which is itself evidence of manifest destiny an

The Truth About Antique Car Insurance

by James Redder An antique car can be a beautiful thing to share, especially if you take them to car shows; because of their increased value, they require insurance called “specialist insurance”. With many companies now able to provide this specialist service antique car insurance is not that difficult to find. Because there are so many specialist insurance providers the classic car customer is in a good position; it also means they will probably not have to pay too much for the insurance. Mai
