Fuel Efficient Cars Used
That is the goal!
Currently I own 2 vehicles, a large family car and a pickup truck. I have always considered a pickup truck a necessity. Even if it is not driven daily, every man needs a pickup truck. However, with the price of fuel it is time to go back to a more fuel efficient car, and since I do not want any payments the only option is to find a good used fuel efficient car.
The car of choice for me is an old Volkswagen Beetle, the downside is that the Beetle was never a great car when it comes [...]
My new old car…
As I have posted just recently, I love Classic cars. To me this means “old cars”, which can be anything pre 1980 and typically my favorites are anything made in the 1960’s.
My new project is a car I bought sight unseen, and I think it will work out just fine. It’s a 1965 Plymouth Valiant 100.
Thanks to the internet, decoding all the serial numbers is pretty easy. It only took me 30 minutes or so to decode all the numbers I could find on the car, including the VIN, Engine code and Fender Tag.
I will be posting periodically [...]
My Love of Cars and Classic Cars
I have always been a car fan. From the time I was a small child my father always had a few cars sitting around he was working on, or as he woud say, “piddling with”. And if I had just a few of the cars I saw come and go in our garage I could retire right now.
My first car was a hand me down 1967 Ford LTD. It was not the typical car my friends were driving, but I loved that car. With a 390 V8 it was a cruiser, a very fast cruiser at that. The hot car [...]
Saving Detroit: Is there corporatism in our future?
A question being asked is: Is crippling Honda and Toyota appropriate for leveling the field so that Detroit's big three can rebound? Kausfiles at Slate: The New Plan? Cripple Honda! Save Detroit with Card Check! Eliminating the secret ballot and making it easier to organize U.S. Honda and Toyota workers (and imposing contract terms via binding arbitration) would "level the playing field," says Dem. Congressman Tim Ryan. ... Then when Honda and Toyota responded by importing more cars from abr
Antique Car Shipping
For those people who have cars, they consider it as their prized possession. With cars, there is so much more that we can do without the hassle of riding a public transportation. If you own an antique car, then this should be treated in a very extra special way compared to ordinary ones. If you are planning to move far away, one of the problems that you would be having is how you would transport and move your car with you. This is not that hard especially when you know where to find the right s
What -- me be "ordinary?"
'Ya gotta love politicians (and their spouses): Times are tough, but evidently not so tough New York couldn't spend $21,000 on an antique Turkish rug for the governor's mansion. That purchase came as Gov. David Paterson was ordering state agencies to cut spending and warning of dire economic hardships to come as budget deficits mount to $2 billion this year alone. The Times Union of Albany reports Thursday that Office of General Services records show the 10-foot-by-15-foot custom-stitched ru

The Friendly Horn
You know the auto industry is in deep yogurt when your seven-year-old has more innovative ideas then Detroit has put out in the last fifteen years. Ladies and (some) Gentlemen: may I introduce the friendly horn. My daughter and I were waiting this afternoon to make our left hand turn in the green-light-only-every-three-minutes lane when I drifted off to that funny moment on last night's Daily Show and then *poof* my three minutes had ended 1.2 seconds ago and that blast from the car behind
Best of the China Blogs: November 20
A daily look at what we’re reading. –As Chinese automakers seek help from the government, a pair of Chinese automakers may be eying to buy up Detroit, according to Chinese media reports (h/t China Digital Times). [The Truth About Cars] –But another view says its unlikely that Chinese companies would want to take on the ailing American auto giants when they’re facing their own problems at home. More likely would be a buy-up of U.S.-based suppliers. [China Car Times] –A look at the antique map
Fun Organizing Ideas For Kids Rooms
I am always looking for fun ways to decorate my daughter’s room. Right now we are doing pink and green and she has a mixture of antique heirlooms and newer pieces. She loves helping out in the kitchen and when I saw this picture I thought of her. Here they used rolling pins for hanging storage and the cookie sheets are magnetic boards. I can see a cupcake theme coming on. Big plush cupcake pillows… hmmm. Since we have decided to take our house off the market one of the things we want to do
War’s Over Indicator No. 52
$3 billion subway planned for Baghdad. Either the war’s over, or some bright Iraqi bureaucrat familiar with the Big Dig saw how $3 billion can turn into $14 billion worth of cost overruns and good jobs at good wages. In a city where raw waste often spills from an antique sewer system, where power goes off hourly, no postal service exists and where public transport has long been a fantasy, lofty ideas have recently been capturing imaginations. In October, planning got under way for an above-

From roads to ruin, Baghdad gets back on track
Martin Chulov, Baghdad Australian Age Newspaper Road rules: Gridlock in the streets of Baghdad. Photo: AFP A YEAR ago it would have been unthinkable. After all, it was a city where driving to work became a life-or-death decision and where residents were cooped in enclaves amid murder and mayhem. But the Mayor of Baghdad has surprised everyone by announcing plans for an underground rail network that would literally carve a swathe through the city's sectarian lines. If investors sign up, the wor

Lancia
Lancia I'm so glad I always carry my camera with me because I never know when I'll see something blog-worthy. (BTW - blog-worthy is the new sponge-worthy) So I'm walking Day-Z and I come along these two antique Lancia cars. I've never heard of the car, but the brand still exists and they have a great web site with George Clooney all over it. I've heard that George lives in Studio City, maybe I stumbled across his house? or maybe he was just visiting with a friend. Well, that's my fantasy and

The Ninth Ward Village Center
This is “Mr.Mack,” Ward McClendon, who changed his dreams to build an auto body shop after Katrina, into opening a community center in the ninth ward. “This was never supposed to be a community center,” he says. “I love antique cars:” Currently, McClendon’s center is playing host to a piece of art called Rescue Games by Miguel Palma. It’s a huge ship hull, modeled on the body of the ships used in the D-Day landings. You walk up stairs onto a platform, overlooking the hull, which it turns out
