Texas Takes Over No. 1 Spot In AP Poll

After defeating Oklahoma on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns are the new No. 1 team in The Associated Press top-25 poll.

THE NEW POLLS ARE IN… AND BAMA GOT JUMPED

Folks in the Heart of Dixie aren’t going to like the new national football polls. Texas is your new #1 team in America after whipping Oklahoma this weekend.  Which means #2 Alabama got leap-frogged.  Which means Bama fans are probably pretty ticked off this morning. But we’re just midway through the season… there’s still a LOT of football to be played. Here’s how SEC teams stacked up in the AP Top 25 poll: 2)  Alabama 5)  Florida 10)  Georgia 13)  LSU 22)  Vanderbilt South Carolina an

Independents split evenly between Obama and McCain

Jack Marshall says he's voting for Barack Obama this year. That's ominous news for John McCain. "I like Obama, he has fresh ideas on things," said Marshall, 59, an independent who hasn't backed a Democrat for president since Bill Clinton. "McCain has George Bush's ideas on things, and I don't think that's such a hot deal right now." Independents like Marshall, an unemployed chemist from Drexel Hill, Pa., are a quarter of voters right now. A recent Associated Press-GfK Poll showed them divi

The Post Mortem

Don't feel too bad Raiders fans, Lovie Smith could be your coach. That gut-wrenching, kick in the groin style of losing is typically reserved for the Raiders. Tom Cable and the Raiders, however, took it easy on their fans by rolling over and soiling themselves like the beaten dogs that they are. Rightfully retaking their spot in the NFL’s dog house. The Raiders lack of effort and other bewilderment of actually having to play a game of football is one of the biggest atrocities to the game. Pacma

Poll Watch: Week 7

In case you missed it this weekend, there was a quite a shake up in college football. Top five teams Oklahoma, Missouri, and LSU were all beaten, changing the face of both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls considerably. While Alabama did not move up in the standings from #2 in the AP (media) poll, the [...]

The AP got it right…

Now the Associated Press has gotten my venom before, from their stylebook to their stupidities, but after yesterdays EMBARASSMENT by Tech versus Nebraska they kept Tech at #7. HOWEVER, the coaches poll has Tech as the # 5 team in the nation. Oh how we will fall, and the pain as we will fall fast… The problem with Tech being ranked so high is that we haven’t played anybody. We’ve played sisters of the blind and the football school for the tragicly insane. But since we are in the Mighty Big

When a dream becomes a nightmare

Shared by Big Head of http://bullyforoldmizzou.blogspot.com/ Ironically, this morning I woke up sick to my stomach. It may have been a mixture of the horrific Mizzou outing last night, the twelver of wings I devoured, and the ton of beer I drank throughout the day. I imagine you may have that same sick feeling yourself. Seems pretty contagious. -The OSU loss stings a bit more after the huge Texas win over Oklahoma earlier in the day. Texas looked damn good, and the Tigers and Horns had a good

VT, UNC & Wake ranked by media, coaches Posted on October 12, 2008 by Patrick Hite North Carolina’s win over Notre Dame earned the Tar Heels a four-spot jump in the AP poll and got them into the USA Today poll this week. Carolina entered the caoches’ poll ranked No. 22. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech climbed a spot to No. 17 in the AP poll and remained at No. 18 in voting by the caoches, while Wake’s victory against Clemson Thursday night was enough for the coaches to bump the Deacons two spo

More Hate Mail

Here's our latest batch of hate mail (October 12, 2008). They're exact replicas of those that landed in our in box — grammatical errors, misspellings and all. Please be aware that some of them contain swear words so if you're offended by that you might want to click on to another post. Additionally, there is one very hateful, very racist email here that I had second thoughts about including; I caught my breath when I read it. Yet it's a reflection — sadly — of what's out there so, here it is.

CBSSports.com Blogpoll draft ballot, week 7.

I alluded to this last week, but the Blogpoll is now the CBSSports.com Blogpoll and will be shown right next to the AP and Coaches Poll. One of the changes is that the draft ballots that participants post on Mondays now will become a preliminary poll, with the aggrieved encouraged to contact voters with whom they disagree. In any event, here's my poll. I watched IU-Iowa, ND-North Carolina, and parts of a few others. RankTeamDelta1Texas 1 2Alabama 1 3Penn State 5 4Oklahoma State 8 5Oklahoma

Palin talks economic worries in Appalachian Ohio

Sarah Palin told voters in southeastern Ohio on Sunday that she and running mate John McCain would bring jobs back to this economically depressed piece of Appalachia. Using her folksy appeal, Palin highlighted her record as mayor of a city about the size of this small one near the West Virginia border. She said Democratic rival Barack Obama doesn't understand places like this. "I love 'Small Town USA' because hardworking, good American (families), you guys, you just get it," Palin said whi

Biden decries 'ugly inferences' against Obama

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden on Sunday accused the McCain campaign of trying to distract Americans from their economic woes by launching "unbecoming personal attacks" at Barack Obama. Appearing at a boisterous rally near his childhood home, Biden said John McCain's campaign is desperate to change the subject from the financial crisis that has wiped out many Americans' college and retirement savings. He said McCain has resorted to making "ugly inferences" about Obama in the
