Singulair

It is being reported in the News that the FDA is investigating Singulair and the reports of mood changes, suicidal behavior in people taking Singulair.
Why did this get my attention?
Well, if you have listened to any of the drug commercials these days. It is absolutely ridiculous. Most of them sound like the side effects are worse than the condition you are taking them for. A couple even mention the risk of cancer.
Now, why would you take Singulair, which is an asthma medication, if the side effects sounded worse than the asthma?
I realize some medicines have side effects that are bad, [...]

Asthma Inhaler

My wife went to get her asthma inhaler and was told by the pharmacist that her particular asthma inhaler was no longer being prescribed and they would get her a new one. No big deal I guess, except the reason they gave.
Seems the asthma inhaler she has been using for 10 years is bad for the environment!
Environment, hey, what about her lungs? She has been breathing this stuff in for 10 years?
I gotta look into this, something just ain’t right here.

John Guider’s “The River Inside/Out”

“The River Inside – Narrative and Photography” is the intriguing title of John Guider’s new book, which is sure to be deemed a masterpiece by all who dive into its many-nuanced depths.  Even those of us who encounter his work in serendipitous samples can, in my experience, be profoundly affected by the universal aspects of Guider’s views of the world. I was first introduced to this Renaissance man’s extraordinary journey from the Narrows of the Harpeth to New Orleans – in a canoe – while I was

An Apple a Day for Asthma

Growing up, asthma affected my life in the form of the family pet. The good news is we got a bird instead and he is still entertaining us eighteen years later and we have never looked back with regrets. However, living with asthma isn’t just about a debate over puppies and kittens, but how to adapt to an affliction which restricts a person’s breathing and

Asthma and Allergy Epidemic

Among the recent anti-science, ignorant drivel from right wing Republicans was the tirade by radio talk show host Michael Savage. In the same tirade where he showed his ignorance and insensitivity towards children with autism, Savage also attacked children with asthma: "[W]hy was there an asthma epidemic amongst minority children? Because I'll tell you why: The children got extra welfare if they were disabled, and they got extra help in school. It was a money racket. Everyone went in and was t

Wall-E

I’m still purging my files, found this, and found that. Found Wall-E! though this is not old. Wall-E was shown in theaters June of this year, and we were not able to catch it on the big screen, husband got a copy and we watched it at home. I am fond of Wall-E. It was like Charlie Choplin animated and futuristic. My son was able to behave himself and remained seated all throughout the movie. I even got him the toy, but he’s not quite interested with it like how attentive he was to the film.
