Brett Favre Retires
After 17 years Brett Favre retires, no really. I hate to say it, but the first thing that comes to my mind is that I am old. I clearly remember when Brett Favre came into the NFL as an Atlanta Falcon. And think about that, after one year in Atlanta they traded Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers for a 17th round pick, can you say OOPS.
Being a Dallas Cowboy fan it is pretty obvious that I am not a Green Bay Packer fan, however, if there is one guy I really respect in Pro sports, it is Brett [...]
Michael Richards or Michael Vick
Gonna be interesting to see who gets more headlines…
Michael Richards (Kramer) for his obscene and racial comments, or
Michael Vick (Atlanta Falcons) for his obscene gesture to a stadium full of fans?
Personally, they both ticked me off.
Week 12 Defense/Special Teams Fantasy Rankings
By Josh Satler www.profootball101org Must Starts 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions The Lions are making this pretty easy for us. Sitting at 0-10, whichever team is set to play them will be eligible for top billing. Look for Monte Kiffin (Bucs’ defensive coordinator) to go after Culpepper in this one and use his front seven to contain Kevin Smith and the running game. We see the Bucs forcing a few turnovers in this game and possibly taking one back to the house. 2. Chicago Bears vs
The 2008 NFL Broadcast Assignments for Week 12
Athens, GA (Nov 22, 2008) - I will have to admit I was tired when I saw the Fox Sports press release for this weeks games. The headline read "Nine-Time Pro Bowler John Lynch Joins NFL on FOX as Game Analyst". For some reason, my eyes focused on "Pro Bowler". Why would Fox hire a bowler to be a football analyst? Were members of the PBA so desperate to get back on network TV that they had to resort to cross-promotion as football analysts to help their cause? Then I rubbed my eye and read the press

Tom Cable: A Man of Many Hats, Fewer Offensive Options
Tom Gable is running out of options to help the dismal Raiders. After the debacle that was the Atlanta Falcons game, Al Davis strips Offensive Coordinator Greg Knapp of the play-calling duties he inherited with the departure of Lane Kiffin. Tom Cable has recently had play calling added to the other items on his plate. He will now serve as the Interim Head Coach, de facto Offensive Coordinator and Offensive line coach. The inoffensive Raiders got defensive against the Panthers passing game,
AINGE A STARCAPS CASUALTY?
We need to start this one off by making clear that this item is purely speculative. (And if you don’t like that kind of stuff, just scroll, baby, scroll.) It’s now known that Jets quarterback Erik Ainge has been suspended four games for violating the league’s policy regarding steroids and related substances, but it’s unknown what [...]
Cats at Birds
This is the biggest game of the year for Atlanta. Matt Ryan is being looked to lead a potent offense to victory at home versus the division leading Carolina Panthers. Jake Delhomme is looking to bounce back from some pretty exceptionally bad performances at Oakland and at home against the Lions. This is good news for the Falcons as they come off of their first home loss of the 2008 campaign. Delhomme’s biggest issues of late have been in throwing interceptions (4) compared to just 2 passing TD
MIKE VICK, BACK IN VIRGINIA
Falcons quarterback Mike Vick will spend a couple of days of his federal prison term in Virginia as he prepares to enter a guilty plea on state-level dogfighting charges. The Newport News native was a proprietor of the “Bad Newz Kennels” in rural Surry County. Vick will appear in court on Tuesday. If the judge approves the [...]
Michael Vick back in Va. to face charges
RICHMOND Michael Vick is back in Virginia to plead guilty to state dogfighting charges, a move he hopes will expedite his return to society and, eventually, pro Football. The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback is being held in protective custody at the Hopewell Regional Jail, superintendent Darnley Hodge said Friday. Vick arrived Thursday afternoon from the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., where he’s serving a 23-month sentence for a dogfighting conspiracy conviction. Vick, 28,
VIKINGS OWNER ATTENDS WILLIAMS HEARINGS
How important is the availability of defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams to the Minnesota Vikings? Sufficiently important to prompt owner Zygi Wilf to personally attend their appeal hearings regarding four-game suspensions for violating the league’s policy regarding steroids and related substances. The suspensions arose from positive tests for the banned substance Bumetanide, a prescription medication that [...]
NFL Week 12 Preview
Jump to Comments (Philadelphia, Pa) — As the 2008 NFL Season hits the third quarter pole and it is quickly becoming apparent that this wacky season is going to come down to the bitter end (week 17) before everything is said and done. There are currently 21 teams at .500 or better — tied with 2002 with the highest number of teams with that mark after 10 games - so practically every team in the parity-laden league has a shot for one of the 12 coveted playoff berths. Surprisingly two teams (Tenne
New details emerge in Vick case
—Imprisoned former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick allowed his trained pitbulls to “cause major injuries” to family pet dogs, according to a report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday. The 17-page report, which was released by the USDA’s inspector general-investigations division and dated August 28, 2008, states that Vick and his co-conspirators “thought it was funny to watch the pitbull dogs belonging to Bad Newz Kennels injure or kill the other dogs.” The repor
Doc Brown’s NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 12
If history tells us anything, Doc Brown always follows an 0-3 week with a 3-0 week. That’s a good sign, but maybe not that great considering it should have been 1-2 if it weren’t for the refs screwing us on the Steelers/Chargers game. Referees be damned, we’re 17-16 and still need to improve the record. A full slate of games to choose from should help us achieve that goal, and thankfully betus.com has all the NFL lines for us to capitalize. Winners to follow. Ravens -1.5 vs. Eagles - B
Porter on Vick: ‘All it was was dogs.’ (Yahoo! Sports)
Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter commented on the possible reinstatement of former Atlanta Falcons…
USDA report details more involvement for Vick
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Michael Vick put family pets in rings with pit bulls and thought it was funny watching the trained killers injure or kill the helpless dogs, a witness told federal investigators during the dogfighting investigation that brought Vick down. In a 17-page report filed Aug. 28, 2008, by case agent James Knorr of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and released Friday under the Freedom of Information Act, a person identified as confidential witness No. 1 said Vick placed pets in
Bankruptcy records detail Vick’s lavish spending
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Michael Vick was once the NFL’s highest-paid player, and he spent like it. One of his friends tools around in a $31,000 Cadillac DTS. His former personal assistant steers a $45,000 Infiniti M45 and has a pair of power boats. His brother Marcus has a $62,000 Land Rover and his sister a Yukon Denali. But Vick himself is busted, millions of dollars in debt and making 12 cents an hour in his job at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., where he serving a 23-month se
Jets have legitimate shot at ending Titans’ run
The New York Jets showed the nation last Thursday night that the acquisitions of Kris Jenkins, Alan Faneca and Brett Favre, among others, have made them legitimate playoff contenders. Their game Sunday in Tennessee may determine if they can be more than that. The Titans enter the contest 10-0, the NFL’s only unbeaten team. The Jets, who lead the AFC East at 7-3, are the most formidable opponent they will face until the final two games of the regular season, when they host Pittsburgh, then fi
Two-way Throwback
Spencer Larsen has received a stamp of approval from none other than Chuck Bednarik. Stamp? More like a helmet-to-helmet, full-contact collision. Bednarik wasn’t called “Concrete Charlie” for nothing. “What positions did he play?” Bednarik said from his Pennsylvania home Thursday. He played fullback and middle linebacker, Mr. Bednarik. “Good,” he said. None of this receiver-cornerback, Deion “Prime Time” Sanders stuff. Larsen, a Broncos rookie, conjured up memories of Bednarik on Sunday w
Week 12’s Top Match-Ups!
Watch out now but it’s getting very close to Thanksgiving. And we all know what that means, the NFL playoffs are right around the corner. And the late season push by many teams will have them fighting and battling it out for those few and very precious spots. So with that being said it’s time now for week 12’s top match-ups in the National Football League. I actually could of made this list longer but decided I’ll keep the list to the normal five. I’m back home from being on the road for a
Falcons WR White returns to practice, listed as questionable
—Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White, who missed the last two practices, fully participated in Friday’s session. The Falcons’ top wideout, White was listed as questionable with a back injury for Sunday’s critical contest against the NFC South Division-leading Carolina Panthers. The 27-year-old White leads Atlanta with 58 receptions for 903 yards and six touchdowns this season. He made five catches for 102 yards during last week’s 24-20 loss to the Denver Broncos. Falcons defensive end John
