Traffic Control
I think we need to work on Traffic Control on our roadways in this country.
Everyone who drives should be required to read a book like this!
If the states would tighten up a little on giving out a drivers license maybe we could all save ourselves some grief and Auto Insurance Premiums.
Maybe we should require all the traffic control products out there to be loaded with some kind of powder that sprays your vehicle when you hit them, that way we can spot a bad driver easily.
Yeah, it was that kind of drive to work this morning !

Is Auto Insurance in Indiana a Necessity or a Luxery?
by Steve Turner While purchasing a car in the state of Indiana, many people see the price of insurance for their new car and consider it a Necessity rather than a Luxury. They think that if they are extra careful while driving and they stay away from busy streets as much as possible that they can go without having insurance and be ok. But it is a well-known fact that auto insurance in Indiana is vital for two reasons: even if you are a good driver, accidents do happen, and it is the law to have
More Retirees Than Workers In Domestic Car Companies
In this Chart of the Day, we see graphically why the Big 3 domestic car companies are struggling so much. They have more retirees than active workers. That trend will continue as the auto companies downsize. Clearly, this is situation cannot be maintained for long. As an analogy, does anyone think that Social Security could be maintained with four people on Social Security for every worker paying in? Currently, we have about three paying in for every retiree on Social Security. Source:
With a Poor Economy, is Auto Insurance in Indiana a Necesity?

And this is why we have a (relatively) big emergency fund
Last week, I wrote about how we were dipping into our emergency fund to cover a large plumbing repair and the cost of installing a new car battery, all in one week. This actually came on top of what I expect will be some decent medical bills, since Tyler needed those emergency stitches put in by the plastic surgeon a couple of weeks ago. Well, it's a good thing our emergency fund is bigger than the $1000 baby fund advocated by Dave Ramsey, because we're going to have to dip into it again: on Th

When You Own a Car, is Auto Insurance in Indiana a Necessity?
by Steve Turner In buying a car in Indiana, many people often ask themselves because of the extra costs incurred if auto insurance in Indiana is really necessary or if it is a just a luxury. Many people think that if they drive carefully and infrequently, they can get away with not having insurance. However, car insurance is a necessity for two reasons: You cannot control how those around you drive, and more importantly, it is the law. Even though it can be quite expensive to keep your insuran

Illinois Mortgage Rates Weekly Update
Welcome to Illinois Mortgage Rates and News week in review for the week ending November 21st, my take on the week’s financial news and how it affected Illinois mortgage rates. The markets are still in turmoil and fear is still the ruling emotion. The two big stories on the financial markets this week were the anticipated bailout of the big 3 automakers, and the news that mega-bank Citigroup is now on the ropes. The auto makers have been on a downward slide for years, and their collective deci

November 21, 2008 Link Payday
Welcome to the pre-Thanksgiving version of our Link Payday for November 21, 2008! We are very close to being back on schedule (and would have been totally back on schedule had I not felt the need to document the incident with my truck), so here are some of the best posts I’ve read over the last couple of weeks: Trent over at The Simple Dollar has yet another pick here, this time on Accountability. This begs the question: who are you accountable to? For me, I’m accountable to my self, my cowork
Get The Best Deal On Your Car Finance
by John Brennan After the car has been test-driven, the papers have all been signed and the keys are in hand, youare likely more worried about getting your new car home and showing it off than you are about whether or not you got a good deal on your car loan. But as the excitement wears off and the first payment draws closer, you may find yourself asking: how do I know I got a good deal on a car loan? Once you’ve got the car it might be too late. You need to start asking these type of question
Driving A Good Deal On Auto Finance
by John Brennan We’ve all been there - the excitement of getting a new car. You’ve done the deal, the papers are signed, the dealer has handed over the keys, you’ve taken it home and let all your friends admire it. Then the doubts set in… How do you really know that you got the best deal on your car loan? Thing is, you should definitely start asking this sort of question before you ever even set foot inside a dealership. When you go shopping for a new car well prepared, with all the facts and
What A Nobel Laureate Thinks About Detroit & Bailouts
Look, money and finance is not my strong suit, so asking me what should be “done” about the Detroit automakers circling the drain would be little more than conversation. On the other hand, asking a professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University, who is also a columnist for The New York Times AND a 2008, Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences Laureate is probably worth listening to. Krugman starts about 3.00 minutes in. Full transcript after the jump.

Why the giants of Detroit have stumbled.
The rhetoric around the big three bailout is virulent. The finger pointing is intense. And most of it, total poppycock. The New York Times had an article this morning about the Chevy Volt electric car. One car is all GM, a global auto manufacturer, is betting the whole company on one car. An overpriced one at that- 10 years late to market. Read: The Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in hybrid, will not arrive in showrooms until late 2010. But it is already straining under the weight of an entire company
Wayne Root predicts Obama Presidency will be a disaster
Posted by Wayne Allyn Root at Root For America We’re handing our country over to a man with no experience. No experience as a businessman, or as a government official. All because we dislike George W. Bush. America wanted ABB (Anything But Bush). Well congratulations! We’ve now elected a man to govern America whose entire experience ‘governing’ is having served less than 4 years in the US Senate. During which time he never put his name on one bill of any significance. He never even held a mee
I'm In Love With My Car
They are unfeeling metal monsters. They've taken over the world. They have us surrounded. They're everywhere. They remorselessly kill and maim more people every year, at least in North America, than all the terrorists ever dreamed about in all the worst nightmares sold to us by politicians, and in all the wars going on around the planet. They are bankrupting our economy and destroying our planet. They show no respect for human life. There's a good chance one or more of them will kill you or so
No Auto Bailout! Astonishing Facts About UAW Contracts
- Scott Miller No wonder the Big 3 US Auto companies are on the precipice of bankruptcy. While mismanagement, inferior quality, and lack of vision have contributed considerably to their current plight, their cost of production (heavily impacted by unsubstantial labor costs) is killing them. The Heritage Foundation has a fantastic piece on this topic, and I’ll excerpt parts of the article below (hat tip to Mark Levin on the article): Auto Bailout Ignores Excessive Labor Costs UAW workers ear

Smash and Grab, Part II
Insurance companies, who are in great financial shape due to the usurious rates they charge us and the claims they deny, are now looking to bend us American citizens over once again, by buying up troubled savings and loan institutions and then heading to D.C. for their piece of the bailout pie. From the WaPo: Neel Kashkari, who is overseeing the rescue fund, told a Washington audience this week that Treasury didn’t want businesses trying to game the system. But what began as federal effort t
