Tornadocane
I guess you could say I am a little bit of a weather buff. Until Hurricane Katrina took a path that put us in the dark for several days and scared the daylights out of us, we (my wife and I) would look forward to a little stormy weather. Now, we are a little more leary of a big storm, yet we still like the rain with thunder and lightning.
Anyway, I found this posting at the Weather Channel to be very interesting and worth a look.

Mollie the Collie loves bad weather
Just playing around with Picasa software today and browsing through my pictures when I came across this one.
Every time there is any bad weather, and it does not have to be anything more than a little wind and rain, the dogs freak out, especially our Border Collie.
Mollie is obviously the worst. If you look closely you can see our other dog Belle under the desk. I have to admit, a dog hiding under the desk makes a little sense to me, but, climbing up on top of the desk?
Not sure what Mollie thinks is going to happen now?

Hanson: Ten Random, Politically-incorrect Thoughts
At Pajamas Media: 1. Four years of high-school Latin would dramatically arrest the decline in American education. In particular, such instruction would do more for minority youths than all the ‘role model’ diversity sermons on Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Montezuma, and Caesar Chavez put together. Nothing so enriches the vocabulary, so instructs about English grammar and syntax, so creates a discipline of the mind, an elegance of expression, and serves as a gateway to the thinking and values of
Comments Made in the Year 1955!
That's only 53 years ago! 'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00.' 'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.' 'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous. 'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?' 'If they rais

Massive Snow in Jamestown NY
Yes, as I got up early morning today, I was amazed of the massive snow that was in front of the house, in our backyard and just pretty much anywhere your eyes can see. I enjoyed it, YES to the max, but knowing the fact that it pretty darn cold outside? And I can’t play? [Now… becoming childish here…] I mean, playing snowball fight, snow angel, or even make a snowman.. hahahaha… that’s the cause of watching too much movies I guess. Well, you can’t blame me, I want to experience that.. and I’m dyi
Avoid Helicopter Accidents
With the invention of technology, people become more and more aware of how important transport from a place to place quickly meant for the people who are in need for it. Air is the best and quick way of transport from a place to another place in case of major cities where traffic is so much that you cannot move a meter in peak hours. Helicopters can reach places where ground transport is not possible due to terrain conditions and also due to traffic condition. Government uses Helicopters for res
A Hungry Thanksgiving for Many Americans
A new USDA report on hunger just came out - but unfortunately, they don't even show the full extent of the problem. The numbers are from 2007, pre-economic-shit-hitting-fan. Overall, 11.1% of Americans lived in "food insecure" households during 2007. That is 36.2 million people, or a little less than the entire population of California. Can you imagine? An entire California of hungry people? The government calls that number "essentially unchanged" from 2006 but in reality even if the percentage
Global Warming: Small Variable, Large Deceit
By Matt Gauntt Most people don't think about dirt very much. As a guy that has designed dozens of subdivisions and works with site construction, I have gotten to learn lots about dirt. Dirt is dirt, right? Well everyone knows that there is top soil and clay. But in reality, there are hundreds of different soil types. Even within these different soil types, there are dozens of variations. You never thought dirt was so complicated. Well, turns out environmental scientists didn't either.
Williams Soccer Wins Sweet 16, Advances to Play Ithaca
In such heavy snow that broadcaster Will Slack was having trouble seeing some of the last plays, the Eph women’s soccer team has won the Sweet 16. Everything is up in the air. The weather is so bad that the other sectional semi may not be playable today. But congratulations to the Ephs and the Lions for great play under worsening conditions. Hats off to Will for bringing it to the fans at home, and to the soccer fans (including a dedicated group of parents) for a great show of support at C

Two Phillies to have surgery Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley will have surgery and may not be ready for the start of the 2009 regular season. Utley will have surgery next week to repair any bone or cartilage damage he may have in his right hip. Third baseman Pedro Feliz also will
Nike Sportswear x DJ Clark Kent - ‘Black Friday’ Air Force 1
In honor of Black Friday, which is November 28th, DJ Clark Kent got together with Nike Sportswear to work on a collaborating including an Air Force One. What is known as the ‘Black Friday Air Force 1′ appears to have a blacked out design along with custom insoles, one which says Black and the other which says Friday. Since majority of the preview is blacked out its really hard to tell which fabrics DJ Clark Kent used on the upper besides for black premium leather. We do however believe Clark
Weekly Local Booty 11/16-11/22/08
Happy Saturday everyone. I am happy to say it is a lot warmer today than it was yesterday - yesterday was cold! We got ourselves some good local grub to work with this week. You might notice it is not quite as much as usual, and that is because of Thanksgiving. I will be going back after work on Tuesday to get the stuff I need for our vegetarian contribution to my families Thanksgiving meal. I am taking the day off Wednesday, and we are going to be spending Thanksgiving with my mom and grandpare
Astrology, Numerology & Universal Considerations - Not Universal in Meaning to Your Life
By Scott Petullo and Stephen Petullo Next time you hear talk about how tough (or wonderful) an upcoming planetary transit, conjunction, retrograde, Solar eclipse, opposition, or other astrological or numerological event is going to be, take it with a grain of salt. It may be rough for you, or it may be good for you, depending on your unique comprehensive charts. Universal indicators such as a Lunar eclipse, the date 8-8-08, or a full Moon, for example are regularly, erroneously labeled "good"
group run, the last one
This morning we wrapped up our 5k training with a frigid (28°) run. We had several people show up, though. And several signed up for the email group. So hopefully I can continue to have people to run with at least occasionally. I have a few random thoughts: I am getting a cold. I hope I am not sick on Thanksgiving for my 5k. I wish I was a bit better prepared for said 5k. I can feel running getting a little harder due to not running as often. I do well on hills though and tend to get ahead on
Current and former Minnesota Gophers recall the good and bad of 26 years in the Metrodome
For better or worse, the Metrodome was home to Gophers football for the past 26 years. Tonight’s game between Minnesota (7-4, 3-4 Big Ten Conference) and Iowa (7-4, 4-3) will be the last for the program in a stadium better known for keeping fans sheltered from the cold than for giving them an outdoor college football experience. Although former and current Minnesota players and coaches are glad the team is moving to TCF Bank Stadium next season, they have memories of the Metrodome over the y
Read Practical Advice - Golf Items for Promoting Your Business

Citi ponders painful choices as shares plunge - NEW YORK Beleaguered banking giant said to be weighing merger, sale of assets, fund raising By ANDREW MARKS NEW YORK CORRESPONDENT FIRST, it was Bear Stearns’ turn to ignite a crisis in the financial markets, followed by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and then Lehman Brothers and AIG. A cold, quiet morning
It occurred to me this morning that I am on a mission every Saturday (since my weekdays are really out of my control) the best day it can be. My body will no longer allow me to sleep in past eight o’clock in the morning, and most Saturdays I am awake before then unless I’m feeling under the weather. This day is no different. I woke up, sufficiently rested after my average of 3 rollovers during the hour before I really wake up. I sleep like a dead person all through the night and then in the mo
