Blog Template
For this Blog I used the Minima Black Template Created By: Douglas Bowman. I then reformatted the Template to allow a left side column. Working with the template is a great way for any beginner or novice to learn about HTML and CSS.
With Blogger you can also make minor adjustments then Preview the changes, if something is not right you can easily select the Clear Edits to revert the template back to the previous state.

A New Normal.......
So Kaiser has been my new hangout lately. Blood tests, bone scans, oncology, nuclear medicine, neurology (the last one is when I go to see my friend over there...she's a neurologist). You should see my calender....chock full of appointments. It's a surreal experience fitting in Carlos' afterschool activities between oncology appointments and Andres' nap time with phone calls to schedule CAT scans. It's the new normal around here. Although, don't get too impressed with my complicated ju
Blog Blazers: 40 top bloggers share their secrets
Stephane Grenier sent me a copy of his newly published book Blog Blazers, 40 top bloggers share their secrets this week. Having a new book mailed to me reminded of my adventures into book publishing when I contributed to a book about Flash optimization back in 2002. Since then I’ve become an avid blogger, and although I read very little paper nowadays I was curious about this project. Stephane interviewed 40 successful bloggers about how they became just that, and the results are hard to put
Bloggery Buzz of the Week (11.23.2008)
image courtesy of paige pooler As always, it was another exciting week in our bloggery world friends! Check out what happened for the week ending November 23: 1. Bloggers beware! There is a hacker running around the blogosphere! Yes guys and gals, a suspected hacker has shut down the palace of our deeply beloved Queen! Gosh, I’m one of Reynz’ fans so, I’m wondering what the hell happened because the Reyna Elena’s webby is redirecting me to her bancodereyna site. Well, it seems that someone h

The Four Benefits of an ESD Workbench
by One Pointe Blogger Today’s modern technological and electronics manufacturers require multi-functional workstations to help them decrease the risk of dangerous discharges getting into vulnerable parts and assemblies. One of the easiest ways to prevent this is to start with the appropriate workstation. Just what might that be? An ESD workbench (aka workstation)! ESD workbenches provide numerous, heavily relied-upon benefits to manufacturers, namely the following:
Winning a Blogger of Honour award
Avish has just published the results of his blog survey in Mauritius and he has given me a Blogger of Honour award for (I quote) being one of the earliest Mauritian blogger still blogging. I hope I’ve not been given this award because I am old (as I still consider myself a young man even though I’m 35 ) In January 2007, I wrote a post with the title Why do I blog? In it I quoted Sam Ruby who wrote in 2002: “So why do I blog? Because it works. It finds worthwhile things for me to read. It h
Cricket's Chirps: Farewell to Felix Jones, for now
BLOGGER'S NOTE: FB Deon "Cricket" Anderson might be the Cowboys' most entertaining character, so I figured it'd be fun to give the dude a diary. He'll discuss whatever is on his wacky mind in Cricket's Chirps, which will run every Saturday throughout the season. We were all sitting in the meeting room when Felix was called out. I didn't know what was going on. I was thinking Felix needed to go get treatment or something, but he didn't come back. Then we got the bad news. Coach [Skip Peete]
Get Click Heatmaps for Your Website with ClickHeat
Analytics are a great tool to use with any website or blog. They help you understand where your traffic comes from and some of the ways that traffic behaves. In the past, MakeUseOf has covered several ways to track all of your site’s statistics. Today, I’m going to tell you more about a free heatmapping analytics tool. ClickHeat is a free software that lets you see heatmaps of your website and all the pages in it. In order to make your content and design better, you need to know how your r
Reality Check Received
(AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill) (Boulder-CO) Things weren't completely terrible in the Nuggets, 104-90, loss to the Lakers, but there were three things really irked me in the first half. First off, Denver's defense in the first 24 minutes was deplorable. I thought complete defensive lapses like last night's first half were behind this team, but when everybody wants to selfishly shoot jump shots it's hard to really get juiced on defense knowing you're probably not going to see the ball on the other
Somethin 4 The Weekend: What We Talk About When We Talk About Lists
Somethin 4 The Weekend: What We Talk About When We Talk About Lists: Damn, this turned into something worthwhile, after all. I like the new Ne-Yo album but I don’t think it has anything as good as “So Sick” or “Because of You” (tho maybe that goes w/o saying?). I think the genre of indie rock may lack variety but the perspective generally afforded under the “indie rock” audience umbrella is wider than for other genres, it seems— saw a post on a hip-hop blog the other day of Drake’s Lykke Li remi
100 Words on Intuitive
It’s getting cold outside but I’m sitting by the fire in an 18th century house, and honestly, the only thing that is just this short of historically romantic about this situation is that I’m writing on a computer instead of with a quill and ink. The past week has brought new challenges, sweeping realizations, pain and growth. Among the more absurd and inane observations this week, I realize that people who smile while driving their car, at no one in particular, just gives me the squigglies

(Note: Enlarging my pics the old way is not working now through Blogger, so I am enlarging some of them manually as I post them. I've noticed that they are grainy though, so click on each pic to enlarge and clarify. I hope they get this resolved soon! It's driving me crazy!) Blog Comment Day 2008
John Smulo at smulospace has named December 3 as "Blog Comment Day 2008". Why did John start Blog Comment Day? He says, "Though there may be 100 reasons why people blog, I've yet to meet a blogger who doesn't appreciate comments. For this reason I'm starting Blog Comment Day on December 3, 2008." Here are the rules: On December 3, 2008 you will leave one comment on at least 5 different blogs. Out of the 5 blogs you comment on, at least 2 of them will be blogs you haven't commented on previousl

Metallungies Hollers @ Kidz in the Hall, Interview.
Either they were really tired or I was really boring, but Kidz in the Hall, the duo of Naledge and Double-0, seemed extremely disinterested when I hollered at them. Nobody is ever that excited to talk to a blogger about their favorite foods and colors, but Naledge sounded like I woke him up from a nap or something. Their sophomore album The In Crowd was well received when it came out earlier this year and the single “Drivin’ Down The Block (Low End Theory)” even landed a spot on TRL (which i

How to get a Christmas card from me…
It’s pretty simple, really. If you got a card from me last year, you will be getting one this year as well. Do nothing. Monitor your mailbox. The only step you would need to take is if you have changed addresses, been moved to a different correctional facility, or if you are bedding down at a different homeless shelter this year. If you did not get a card from me last year, and you would like one, email your address to me. Several folks have done so recently, and they are now on the list. If
WordPress server requirements experience
I got an email from a regular reader saying I put much effort into helping people understand and enhance ‘client’ side experience with WordPress. But as he noted, a lot of people just starting out with WordPress still have inadequate understanding of WordPress ’server’ side which is something that is rarely written about. This article comes from my personal experience in working with half a dozen hosting companies (and that’s too much, imagine changing a dentist half a dozen times). Shared hos
