111th Boston Marathon
The 111th Boston Marathon will be run next Monday, April 16, 2007. There are 23,500 participants and the start time has been moved up to 10:00am.
I have always been amazed at marathon running. When I was younger, a lot younger I ran long distance. Typically this was up to 5k runs, and I loved it. But to run 26 miles is a much higher level of discipline and training.
Good luck to all the participants!

This is the weekend for running in the Philly area. Take your pick and enjoy being out on the road. It’s a qualifier for Boston, and the terrain is FLAT. As a Delaware girl at heart, I migh
Open Mic Friday: Meet The Joggler
When most of us go running, we leave our other passions and talents at home. Not this week's guest. He combines his running with a widely admired art, juggling, and he’s nothing short of amazing. He’s a superhero to runners as he actually trains and runs races—his specialty is marathons—while juggling balls the entire distance. He makes both running and juggling look easy. His preferred name is The Joggler, and his mortal name is Perry Romanowski. A competitive runner, a popular blog

Judah Tribe reggae band today announced the release of the controversial single “Judgment”. The release was marked by a special concert Saturday night (November 15, 2008) at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). The concert attracted a capacity crowd and left hundreds outside in the cold, according to sources. Javelina Jundred Race Report
Gear list: Montrail Streaks, Drymax Maximum Protection Socks, Nathan Quick Draw Plus, and 1 grass skirt. I know in my previous post I said that I didn't have any races planned for awhile. That was true until Monday of last week. It was very last minute, but David and I decided to head to Arizona for the Javelina Jundred 100. I can't tell you how much I missed the trails! So we headed somewhere warm and beautiful for an amazing weekend. The race is in Fountain Hills, Arizona on the Pemberton Tr
November 19: The Day After
Posted by Zach on November 19, 2008 Some thoughts on the top games from ESPN’s Tip-Off Marathon that concluded last night: UAB-Arizona: Can it possibly get any more chaotic for this Arizona program? After weeks of frustration from players (like star forward Chase Budinger, who even mentioned the word “depressed” in an interview) and Wildcat fans following the abrupt resignation of longtime coach Lute Olson, the team finally had a chance to bring smiles to the faces of their loyals. You’ve prob
Ryan Hall: Can he win Boston?
It's been a long time since an American won the Boston Marathon. Almost 25 years, to be exact. So it's nice to think one of America's best marathoner in years, Ryan Hall, will give it a shot this spring. Hall failed to live up to expectations in Beijing, where he placed a still impressive 10th, one spot behind American Dathan Ritzenhein, but a long way from contending for gold. But Hall is still the American record holder in the half marathon and has the third fastest marathon time (2:0

Clark Marathon in Feb 2009?
Just as most of us are almost drowning in our own sorrow over the postponement of QC Marathon, Atty. Jon from Clark comes in and brings us a shimmer of hope. Read his comment as written in my QC Marathon post… Hi fellow runners. I am the Team Captain of Team Clark based here in Clark. We are coordinating with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) (where we work at) and other groups/sponsors to continue the 2nd Clark International Marathon with or without the Kenyans (no pun intended). November 18: The Day After
Posted by Tommy on November 18, 2008 ESPN Tip-off Marathon The inaugural College Hoops Tip-off Marathon kicked off last night on ESPN after Monday Night Football. For myself, it was the first opportunity to watch college hoops in HD since the National Championship. I must say, there is nothing better than Hi-Def college basketball. The opening matchup pitted two coaches and programs with plenty of ties in Memphis and UMass. John Calipari, the former coach at UMass, coached against his former

Ryan Hall to Make Boston Marathon Debut Next April
It’s been more than 25 years since an American man crossed the finish line first at the Boston Marathon, but race organizers hope that will change next April when Ryan Hall of Big Bear Lake, Calif., steps to their famous starting line in Hopkinton for the first time. John Hancock Financial, which funds the elite fields for the race, announced today that they had landed Hall, America’s top marathoner with a 2:06:17 personal best, for the 2009 edition of America’s oldest marathon. “I am grateful

Touring the Set of ‘Fringe’
I recently got to visit the cast of the FOX Network hit drama, “Fringe” and see their FBI bullpen for myself! The thriller is set in Boston, but they actually shoot on a set in Queens, New York. I dropped in on Monday morning and the first thing I heard was lots of laughter. The gang seemed to be in high spirits, with star Joshua Jackson, who plays Peter Bishop, in the middle of all the fun. Kirk Acevedo, who plays Charlie Francis, was upbeat too, despite the fact that he was limping a LOT
Bigger Than Any Of Us
In 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed and both Northerners and Southerners were now legally required to turn in runaway slaves. One year later, Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin (or Life Among the Lowly) as a serial in an antislavery paper, The National Era. In 1852, the Boston publishing company Jewett published it as a book and, as they are wont to say, the rest is history. Widely considered to be the first social protest novel published in the United States (and the firs

ATB: Quiet Before the Storm
News & Notes. We’d like to take a moment at the beginning of tonight’s ATB to honor former Cal head coach and legendary big man guru Pete Newell, who died today at the age of 93. He led Cal to its only national championship in 1959, won a gold medal as the US Olympic team coach in 1960, and was elected to the basketball Hall of Fame in 1979. Although he was before our time, we’ve heard the stories of his legend and he is considered one of the most influential figures in basketball history. Ma
Weekend Recap - November 16, 2008
Last night before heading into Caplans house we secretly put up the Ironman Florida sign that my parents made for him in his front yard. We wrote a little congratulations message on the top and then we all signed it. Ironman Florida was a breakthrough race for Caplan and he knocked over an hour off his PR time. I think we could expect Caplan to start pushing that low 11 hour or perhaps become a "10-guy" at some point in his Ironman career. He's certainly starting to figure it out and put it
