Brett Favre Retires
After 17 years Brett Favre retires, no really. I hate to say it, but the first thing that comes to my mind is that I am old. I clearly remember when Brett Favre came into the NFL as an Atlanta Falcon. And think about that, after one year in Atlanta they traded Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers for a 17th round pick, can you say OOPS.
Being a Dallas Cowboy fan it is pretty obvious that I am not a Green Bay Packer fan, however, if there is one guy I really respect in Pro sports, it is Brett [...]
A Conspiracy Theory on Our Hands
Here’s a hint. It includes the Patriots and the Jets. A camera is involved. But there isn’t any spying. Can you guess what it is? Probably not. Those clues suck. But here’s the answer: League favoritism toward Brett Favre. ProFootballTalk.com’s Mike Florio takes a gander at a tunnel video from after last week’s 34-31 overtime win by the Jets over the Patriots. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but here’s the video. You will find some swear words when listening to it, as football players have

Call him survivor or old QB, Collins still winning
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Kerry Collins may not be the NFL’s best quarterback. He has a checkered personal history and a losing record as a starter. But here he is, gray stubble and all, a key reason the Tennessee Titans are the NFL’s last unbeaten team with a franchise-best 10-0 mark. The fifth pick overall in 1995, Collins took his first team to the NFC championship game in his second season, and led the New York Giants to the 2001 Super Bowl. But he also had problems with alcohol and the be

NFL Week 12 Preview
Jump to Comments (Philadelphia, Pa) — As the 2008 NFL Season hits the third quarter pole and it is quickly becoming apparent that this wacky season is going to come down to the bitter end (week 17) before everything is said and done. There are currently 21 teams at .500 or better — tied with 2002 with the highest number of teams with that mark after 10 games - so practically every team in the parity-laden league has a shot for one of the 12 coveted playoff berths. Surprisingly two teams (Tenne
Jets-Titans offer early AFC showdown in Music City
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—The Tennessee Titans feel they aren’t getting the attention and respect that usually go with a 10-0 start. They can change all that Sunday against the New York Jets. The NFL’s last unbeaten team goes up against the AFC East-leading Jets (7-3) in what very well could be a playoff preview, with the winner taking a step toward home-field advantage come January. “This team is three games behind us,” Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck said. “They win, they’re only two games

On whether it is easy to move on to the next play after not completing the previous play… You have to. If you sit there and think about the drop you might drop the next one and continue to drop the ball the rest of the game. You have to take the good with the bad. The last play is in the past. There is nothing that you can do about it. On what his thoughts were when the Jets traded for QB Brett Favre… Just speaking with Bubba (Franks) who spent all that time with (Favre) in Green Bay. Jets rookie QB Erik Ainge suspended 4 games by NFL
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) - New York Jets rookie quarterback Erik Ainge was suspended four games by the NFL on Friday for violating the league’s policy on steroids and related substances. Ainge, already on injured reserve and out for the season with a foot injury, is not allowed to be with the team or at its facility during the suspension. He’ll be eligible to rejoin the team Dec. 15, following the Jets’ game against Buffalo. “We respect the league’s decision and look forward to Erik’s return,
Jets have legitimate shot at ending Titans’ run
The New York Jets showed the nation last Thursday night that the acquisitions of Kris Jenkins, Alan Faneca and Brett Favre, among others, have made them legitimate playoff contenders. Their game Sunday in Tennessee may determine if they can be more than that. The Titans enter the contest 10-0, the NFL’s only unbeaten team. The Jets, who lead the AFC East at 7-3, are the most formidable opponent they will face until the final two games of the regular season, when they host Pittsburgh, then fi
Saints RB Bush hoping to face G.B. on Monday
METAIRIE - New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton said running back Reggie Bush, who has missed the last three games after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, was further along than a week ago after he practiced Thursday. Bush returned to practice Nov. 12 for the first time since having the knee scoped on Oct. 20, but missed the next two practices and Sunday’s game at Kansas City. Bush seemed optimistic, however, that he’ll be full go for Monday night’s key game with the Green Bay
NFL Picks: Week Twelve
Anyone recognize that handsome guy second from the left? Could it be a former Packers receiver whose career was cut short due to injury, perhaps? If you guessed Terrence Murphy, you are correct. Good work. Now, why on earth would I pull a T-Murph picture off of Facebook and post it on this weeks picks column? Simply, to make a point. That point being that I was better off starting Terrence Murphy than I was Lee Evans this week. I'm still quite pissed off about the fantasy week that was week e
Week 12 Preview: Titans vs. Jets
Two of the AFC’s best will battle at LP Field on Sunday, as the 10-0 Tennessee Titans “welcome” the 7-3 New York Jets. After a lackluster 1-2 start, the Jets have gone 6-1 to currently sit alone atop the highly competitive AFC East. While it hasn’t always been pretty, the Jets quarterback has been able to limit his mistakes enough to win ball games, and played superbly in New York’s 34-31 OT victory against the Patriots in New England. Favre will face his toughest challenge of the season in the

Week 12’s Top Match-Ups!
Watch out now but it’s getting very close to Thanksgiving. And we all know what that means, the NFL playoffs are right around the corner. And the late season push by many teams will have them fighting and battling it out for those few and very precious spots. So with that being said it’s time now for week 12’s top match-ups in the National Football League. I actually could of made this list longer but decided I’ll keep the list to the normal five. I’m back home from being on the road for a
Jets rookie QB Erik Ainge suspended for steroid use
Apparantly living in Brett Favre’s shadow was too much for Jets’ rookie QB Erik Ainge, who has been suspended for four game for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policies. Instead of just waiting for Favre’s ageing body to fail him, and the inevitable failure of the other quarterbacks ahead of him on the depth chart, Ainge decided to show some intiative and hit the weights. Like other recent punishments dished out by the commish, this one will also serve as little more than a slap on the w

100 Words: Jets (7-3) at Titans (10-0) By John Woods Each week, The Times asks the bloggers who cover opposing teams to break down the coming game for the Jets — in 100 words or less. (Give or take a few rants.) In this edition, we examine the Jets’ game against the Titans on Sunday (1 p.m. Eastern on CBS). Our Titans guys exude the kind of smug confidence that fairly dripped last season from a certain Patriots fan I know. A 10-0 team is nothing to sneeze at (and, kids, please, you should
