Immigration - Break it down

This is big. And if we do not get it under control it could easily escalate to things we do not want. The biggest problem is that everyone wants a comprehensive solution after ignoring the problem for decades.
DON”T EAT THE ELEPHANT IN ONE BITE, Break it down.
Work on the border security issue first. If this is not priority #1 then all else will fail. Run the scenarios and think about it. If the solution from our government does not include massive deportation, more illegals will try to flood across. If we try to deport 11 million people they will just [...]

Scott’s Thoughts: I’m not too worried about it

Laying in bed on a Saturday morning, watching the Canucks captain go down with a “lower body” injury, I’m not as worried about the Canucks goaltending situation as some people might be. That makes me think. Here are my thoughts on the world of sports.   First of all, Curtis Sanford is playing very well. I probably just jinxed him, but I’m alright with that. If the Canucks lose to Pittsburgh and come out of this road trip with six of eight points it’s not too bad. And wouldn’t you know it, Cor

A Short Video & Fashion Week!

A short video for you today and a quick note about Fashion Week here in our Nation’s Capital city… Ottawa. Now, I know this is totally unrelated but I couldn’t help but be excited when Miss Sly, a freelance fashion reporter here in Ottawa, snapped photos of me on not one night of Fashion Week… not two nights of Fashion Week but all three nights! Here is the first photo she snagged of my girlfriend Kat & I’s legs / shoes on day one… My legs are on the left and Kat’s are on the right! We had

Tested: Garmin StreetPilot C340 GPS Unit

Everywhere I have lived, the very few “close” bike races have been about an hour away, while most were three or four hours away! And being mountain bike races, they were usually located quite far from the highway, making for some interesting travels. While the adventure is part of the fun, if you leave at 5:00 am for a 9:00 am race, and it takes three hours to drive there, you can’t waste time getting lost! So whenever the Garmin GPS systems finally dropped in price to a reasonable level, I

Do we really want Nato's ties?

As we approach the December meeting of Nato foreign ministers we should carefully consider whether, in promising to support membership of Nato to Georgia and the Ukraine, we really want to bind ourselves to article five of Nato's charter which commits members to come to those countries' defence. Nato's charter essentially bound the US and Canada to western Europe – "one for all and all for one". It was and remains a defensive shield, binding all of us together. I can understand why Russians

Saturday Hockey

The Rangers (14-6-2, 30 Pts) look to bounce back in Ottawa for a matinee with a special 3 start time at the top of the hour. Scott Gomez remains out but finally practiced following a couple of acupuncture treatments. He did make the trip and was expected to skate prior to the game but won’t play according to Sam Weinman. In a surprise move, Stephen Valiquette gets the call. He was very sharp in relief of Henrik Lundqvist Wednesday stopping all 15 shots he saw. Maybe that helped influence Tom R

Raptor Bloggers Hammer Mitchell, Praise Frank

Raptor Bloggers Hammer Mitchell, Praise Frank November 22, 2008, 3:55 pm It’s a given that Lawrence Frank outcoached Sam Mitchell in the 2007 playoffs. After Friday night, Toronto bloggers are hammering Mitchell and praising Lawrence Frank. “Frank once again owns Sam”, writes one. “Smitch tea-bagged by Frank”, writes another, adding a graphic to emphasize the point. Even, Doug Smith, Toronto’s respected hoops writer admits, “it wasn’t one of the coach’s greatest moments”. Incompetent Mitche

travel log

I bought this Travel Journal at Borders a few days ago. It meant to log wonderful experiences, discoveries, people we meet and food we eat as we travel some of the most famous cities of America and Canada. Travelling and Eating are two of the many things Stripe and I love to do together. If only money and time were not to be considered, we would travel every weekend. I remembered when Stripe had to be assigned in various provinces back in our home country because his sales/business development

Northern Voice 2009, Save the Date

http://www.miss604.com/2008/11/northern-voice-2009-save-the-date.html. After diligently liveblogging the conference for two years (including Dave’s infamous talk), being a panelist, presenter, wrangler, wiki editor and putting the word out (to folks like Jennie who traveled to Vancouver from Pittsburgh last year for the event) I don’t know how it came to be that I haven’t noticed that Northern Voice 2009 planning is well underway. Al Gore Lied...and Whales Died

The whales took Al Gore at his word. They did not expect there to be ice. And they paid the price. At least 200 narwhal whales in Canada's Arctic, trapped by winter ice and facing starvation or suffocation, must be culled, officials say. Hunters from the village of Pond Inlet on Baffin Island discovered the animals trapped near Bylot Island, about 17 kilometres from Pond Inlet, on November 15. The local hunters are allowed to harvest only 130 whales each year for food, according to standards s
