Comcast

It is amazing to me that a company the size of Comcast can make such a mess of taking over another system.
If you had TimeWarner Roadrunner service and you live in an area where they are converting from RoadRunner high speed to Comcast high speed, are you in for a treat.
I have talked with several people who found their Internet connection just displaying a Comcast screen advising them to update the software to have their system switch over. The only problem is nothing on the screen worked.
I am already on Comcast high speed and so far there have been no [...]

Comcast, DirecTV Play HD Numbers Game

Nothing says "classy" like some good mudslinging. The war of words between Comcast and DirecTV has been pretty entertaining to watch over the last year and it's only getting better. The pay-TV providers have devoted quite a bit of time to debunking one another's claims of superior HD content -- DirecTV, for example, sued Comcast for false advertising more than a year ago -- but it's become increasingly difficult to find out who has the better HD package. Although the lawsuit was eventually s

Comcast Disconnected My Verizon, What Should I Do? [Comcastrophe]

Here's an odd situation: Reader Stephen says that Comcast (his old cable company) disconnected his new Verizon cable. He's not sure what exactly he should do about it and would like your advice. August 8th. 3pm. My Verizon cable service is disconnected. Both set top boxes are non-responsive, but my internet service is booming along. I reboot the Verizon equipment a few times over the next 3 hours, but it never comes back on. I call Verizon's "Fibre Solutions Center" and deal with some rather

Comcast lighting up 15 HD channels in Chicago, Illinois

Filed under: Cable, New contentIs this a trend we spot, or just a small flurry of Comcast expansions that sadly won't affect the rest of the nation? While we're obviously hoping, praying, pleading for the former to be true, citizens of Chicago, Illinois can expect a whopping 15 new high-def stations to arrive on their EPG in a matter of days. Aside from the highly-anticipated Big Ten Network launch, users will also find Weather Channel HD (270), FX HD (267), Fox News HD (265), Bravo HD (278), N

FCC Commissioner: Regulating Poor Comcast Compels Us To Regulate All Speech On The Internet. Huh? [And Then The Terrorists Win]

FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell (R-Obviously) recently warned conservative bloggers that the Commission's decision to repudiate Comcast for crippling Bit Torrent could lead the government to start "dictating content policy" by requiring blogs to give equal time to opposing views. Ha! Of course, this can be avoided if we vote for the *ahem* "right" candidate in November. The commissioner, a 2006 President Bush appointee, told the Business & Media Institute the Fairness Doctrine could be inter

Corporate Cabals Buying Blog Posts

Or maybe the title should be “Sheeple Herding.” It turns out that corporations that need to get a controversial viewpoint accepted in the mainstream can hire DC thinktanks that will do a media blitz to push the viewpoint and make it palatable to enough people to allow it to become acceptable. Comcast recently did this to fight against the blowback caused by their blocking of P2P applications which caused a huge discussion around net neutrality versus normal network management.
