Busy Times

I guess I have to admit I might be considered a redneck, a high tech redneck, but a redneck just the same. No I don’t hunt and fish, I don’t have a rebel flag, but, follow the trail.
Every year February is a little busy, Valentines Day on the 14th and my wifes birthday is just a few days later. So being the typical male it causes stress trying to be the thoughtful and giving soul I know I should be. Especially when the Daytona 500 is usually on the same weekend as it is this year.
My biggest concern today is [...]

Professional Sports

As a kid growing up I was a major NFL Football fan. My beloved Dallas Cowboys were as close to my heart as anything else in life. Over the years I never missed a game. In 1997 when I moved to Mississippi I purchased Direct TV for the sole purpose of getting all the Cowboy games.
I began loosing interest in Professional sports in 2000. With free agency in football the loyalty issue was lost. No longer was a player a part of a team for years. Roger Staubach was a Dallas Cowboy, Troy Aikman was a Dallas Cowboy, Emmitt Smith, [...]

The Pesky Yellow Line Business Makes The Rules Tight in Turn 2

Boy, am I really tight in turn two this week, and I thought I could just share my angst with Charlie Turner of On Pit Row and see if he could inject some sanity in my following tirade!!!NASCAR: Not Always So Consistent Around Raceday.Last weekend we saw a couple of confusing rule interpretations occur in the AMP Energy 500 at Talladega and I'm not talking about the "Big Ones" either. I'm talking about how rules are applied to the sport and how they get created, rescinded or conflicted on the

The Daily Pulse- Battlegrounds in Battleground States

We have all heard of "Battleground States." However, there really are no "Battleground States." There are, instead, battlegrounds within states. Today The Daily Pulse looks at editorial pages from the most hotly contested regions of the country, Florida's "I-4 Corridor," Ohio's "C," and Denver, Colorado. I will try to get to Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Mexico and the rest another time. Florida, the "I-4 Corridor" Florida isn't a battleground state. North of Gainesville, it is Republican

Top NASCAR drivers meet swimsuit models

Our Dennis McCafferty is in Charlotte, N.C. this week for our annual NASCAR/Daytona 500 photo shoot. And he has good reason to be excited because - well, I'll let him tell it. "We’re featuring three of the very top drivers in NASCAR — Dale Earnhardt Jr., Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. — with two of the top models in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Since both the Swim issue and the Daytona 500 are the biggest events for sports fans in February, we figured: Heck, why not combi

CUE THE VIDEO MONTAGE

Time for me to put a wrap on the 2008 Mets season. I feel a twinge of responsibility for the Mets missing the playoffs, but only a microscopic twinge, since the Mets are the ones who did this two years in a row. I have had this blog ready since the Friday before the season ended - it was meant to celebrate a playoff appearance. Now, it will kind of wrap up the season (since I put so much work into it, I don't want it to go to waste - I don't even know if it will work anymore). But this goes in th

Carpentier out at GEM - Another Open Wheeler Gone

From Yahoo Sports: Carpentier out of No. 10 at Gillett Evernham CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)—Patrick Carpentier was released from Gillett Evernham Motorsports on Tuesday, and Mike Wallace and AJ Allmendinger will finish the season in the No. 10 Dodge. Carpentier was likely being let go at the end of this season, anyway. GEM had already hired Reed Sorenson to take over the car next season, and Carpentier’s return was dependent on the team finding sponsorship for a fourth entry. But his releas
