What is the truth?
What is the truth ?
Does it matter?
Today it seems that the truth takes a backseat to the opinion. Truth, to many (at least the MSM) is not important, the opinion is. And how popular and how well marketed the opinion, how successful the story. And if the truth does not make the story as interesting, then just slant the opinion for the desired result.
Just look at the stories in the news. Is it truth or opinion that makes it to headlines?

FACTOR FIVE FIVE FACTOR PREVIEW: MIAMI AT GEORGIA TECH
Welcome to our Factor Five Five Factor Preview of Miami at Georgia Tech A game where a Georgia Tech team beset by injury faces a young and talented Miami team rounding into form at just the right team. Tech would stand no chance in this game save for two factors: a.) This is the ACC. b.) The low tonight will be 31 degrees, and Miami dudes don’t like that shit. The cold is just making us meaner, asshole. Oh, and the five factors, which really decide who’s going to win this game, after a
Unverified Voracity Enjoys MSG
Unverified Voracity Enjoys MSG By Brian — November 20th, 2008 at 5:33 PM — 1 comment Basketball of note tonight. Michigan is a heavy underdog against UCLA tonight at Madison Square Garden, but this will be the first opportunity to see Michigan's 2008-09 team against a credible opponent and should at the very least provide an indication of how improved they are this year. Previews are bountiful. UM Hoops has your pregame: This is a big game whether it is a measuring stick, statement game

[Photos] The Duke Spirit @ 9:30 Club
Although I haven't mentioned them very much, I have become a big fan of The Duke Spirit. I liked a track they had on a sampler a while back and was pleasantly surprised by their latest album, Neptune, which is full of bluesy, garage rock goodness. It's one of my favorite albums of the year and it's been in heavy rotation on my iPod since February. So of course I jumped at the chance of seeing them at the 9:30 Club, especially after Redboy gave them his stamp of approval. And they did not di
Economist Argues That 7 Years Ought to be Enough for Biologic Data Exclusivity
As Congress is considering possible legislation to create an abbreviated pathway for the FDA to approve generic biologic therapies (“biogeneric,” “biosimilar” and “follow-on biologics”), differences in the R&D expense and product cost, and the potential for both new therapies post-approval and second-generation innovations have raised questions about how to achieve the proper balance between innovation and competition. One important policy for Congress to establish will be the number of ye
Trek introduces chainless bicycles
Pedalers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains. Published November 19, 2008 by Associated Press RICHMOND, Va. — Pedalers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains. If you've ever been riding down the street and had your pants cuff ripped asunder, there may be a revolution at hand. Trek Bicycle is part of a movement to bury the finger-pinching, pants-munching, rust-prone sprocket and chain, and usher in an era of belt-driven bikes that might have the i

What type of Jewelry does this Tough Girl Like?
"So what type of jewelry do you like?" Duke asked me. "I don't" I said. I'm not trying to be cute, either. Since I took off my wedding band, I have worn a sterling silver lady bug on my pinky finger and an emerald gecko on my belly button. I can wear them all the time, except for right now because my lady bug has inexplicably gone missing. I don't know what diamond cuts, karats or quality are. Other than what I wore when I was married, I have not ever really looked at any Diamond Jewlery. All

April 30, 1789 - Within 4 minutes of being sworn in as the 1st president George Washington abuses hispower as the leader of the free world by immediately appointing himself Vice-president, Secretary of State, Secretary of War, Ombudsman, Exchequer, Viscount, Duke of Awesomeness, & P-Dog Pimp of Pennsylvan
Fuqua's Poster Boy of the '90s has Become the Jeff Skilling of Our Times
When we represented Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in the 1990s, we heard faculty and administrators alike wax poetic about their shining star, Rick Wagoner. At the time, Rick was rising through the ranks of America's (and the world's) largest car company, General Motors. And, he was emblematic of how far a Fuqua grad could go in the business world. Fast forward to yesterday's Congressional hearings and, sadly, Mr. Wagoner has become an icon for the sagging American economy. Unde

Kinks Picture Book box set
It's amazing to think that no-one has managed to compile a Kinks' box set in all these years - until now. Yes Sanctuary has got round to compiling Picture Book, a six-CD box of tracks compiled by Ray Davies. It covers all of the band's 40-year career (which could be good or bad), packing in plenty of previously unreleased tracks, rarities and live recordings, along with a 60-page, full colour booklet, which as well as telling the story of the band, also features never seen before photographs.
Bad luck for UNC. Can you make the excuse now if they don’t win it all come March?
Ok I’m sorry Duke Fans but I’m going to be totally bias on this thread. UNC the #1 team in college basketball already without two injured seniors Tyler Hansbrough & Marcus Ginyard will now be without 7ft freshman Tyler Zeller due to a broken wrist. Do you think UNC can still win it all?

Small-firms’ credit harder to get, Fed governor says
Small businesses are having a tougher time getting credit, Federal Reserve Board Governor Randall S. Kroszner told the House Small Business Committee today. At the same time, poor economic conditions result in fewer small businesses seeking loans, he added. Here’s a portion of Kroszner’s testimony: …the information that we have received since April from both banks and small businesses suggest, rather convincingly, that over the last six months it has become more difficult for small businesse
4 Heartbreaking (or Miraculous) Moments in Gambling History
The NFL saw a great meaningless gambling moment last weekend when Steelers safety Troy Polamalu seemed to scored a touchdown on the final play of Pittsburgh’s game against San Diego. While it looked like the lusciously locked DB had successfully nabbed a fumbled lateral and scampered into the end zone, the referee somewhat confusingly allowed, then disallowed the score. The play had no impact on the game’s outcome (Pittsburgh still won 11-10), but the gambling repercussions were serious. The
