U.S. Hostage Jill Carroll Released

It’s good to see good news from Iraq. I am surprised that some of the media even mentions this story, sometimes it feels like they only want us to see and hear the bad news.

Justice Scalia Denies Flipping Off Reporter

Now here’s news. When I heard about this it made me lose sleep. Was it really true, oh the horror. Did he really use that gesture on a reporter? Could you imagine anyone getting so upset with a member of the media that they would sink so low?
Oh wait, this just in, it was the old Italian gesture of dismissal not the American gesture of ……
My faith in Justice Scalia has returned.

Fox Debunks McCain’s Lies on Obama’s Tax Plans Once Again

It seemed like a miracle when it happened a few weeks ago. Fox News revealed that the McCain campaign was stating false information about Obama’s tax proposals in their attacks. Believe it or not, they have done this again in a recent article I missed while on vacation. Major Garrett believes that John McCain has a problem on taxes–especially as he has been repeatedly exposed for lying about Obama’s policies: Add to this the mounting evidence that McCain’s TV commercials assailing Obama’s tax

FOX News Hypocrisy Alert

FOX News, advocates of truth and justice, will not standby silently while nasty Americans examine Sarah Palin's life for clues about her character and qualifications. Because they care about the truth and our democratic process, FOX has compiled a guide on their website entitled TOP 7 MYTHS, LIES and UNTRUTHS ABOUT SARAH PALIN much like the Fight the Smears website Senator Obama created to counter the non stop garbage heaped on him by FOX News. Obviously this is serious business since the FOX a

Had It With "News" Sites?

I think I've had it with the constant bombardment of content advertising on the "news sites". From the Des Moines Register home page to the Washington Post. From FOX News to CNN. Here in Des Moines pick any radio or television home page and you have to wade through the crap to find the news. It's getting depressing, loud and too much. And this from an "advertising guy". It's nuts. So, I was thinking...maybe I really don't have to know everything right now!! Ahhhh...the peace of igno

FNC Ties Palin's Speech Ratings As Top in Cable History

It's official — more people watched Sen. John McCain accept the Republican nomination than watched Sen. Barack Obama accept the Democratic nomination. And just as the first two nights, more people watched the McCain speech last night on Fox News than any other network, broadcast or cable. FNC had 9.2 million viewers at 10pmET, the same as the night before for Gov. Sarah Palin's acceptance speech. NBC improved from Wednesday night, with 8.7 million tuning in last night. ABC was 3rd with 6 mill

Obama on The O'Reilly Factor

Barack Obama appeared on FOX News' The O'Reilly Factor last night. Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP... And just as a side note, it has been ages since John McCain (or Sarah Palin for that matter) held any kind of news conference with reporters. (via shakesville)

St. Paul Report: Eugene Mirman, Chicken Run Afoul of Secret Service

During both the Democratic and Republican conventions, Daily Show correspondents frequently found themselves in trouble with the powers that be. Hearsay has it that in Denver, after Jason Jones pretended to pee on a campfire (he used a water gun) that happened to be near a local Fox News station's van, he was accused of peeing on their equipment. "I heard they were trying to hunt us down and take our credentials away," John Oliver told us. "They made us sound like Spinal Tap!" So imagine being

August Ratings: FNC Most Watched For 80 Months

Fox News Channel was again the most-watched cable news network during August, winning for the 80th consecutive month in primetime and total day Total Viewers. It was also the highest-rated cable news network in the A25-54 demo this month. In Total Viewers, FNC had the top ten programs in Total Viewers in cable news as well. Year-to-year, The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes showed double-digit increases in both Total Viewers and in the A25-54 demo. All primetime programs grew by double-di

GOP strategist: Palin’s foreign policy experience stems from ‘fishing issues’ with Russia.

Ever since Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) announced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) as his running mate, conservatives have rushed to rebut criticism that Palin has no foreign policy experience by claiming that Alaska is near Russia. Fox News’s Steve Doocy appears to be one of the first to make this claim and even McCain and his wife Cindy have uttered the absurd talking point. But today on Fox News, a “Republican strategist” laid out the specifics of this Russia/Alaska rivalry — fishing: GREGG JARRETT:
