It is amazing that 7 miles makes such a difference in gas prices. I drive about 8 miles to work, near my home the gas prices are almost always 15 cents or more above those near my office. The only thing I can attribute it to is that the stations with the lower prices are closer to the Interestate.

This morning the price was done to $3.36. Once again, I never thought I would be happy to pay that much for a gallon of gas. Here is a map link where the price is usually lower than most other stations in this area.

Boone Pickens has planned for his energy solution, but I will say that just his initiative may be the kind of thing we need right now. When people start putting there own time and money into plans there is a lot more at stake.

We need to quit with the political rhetoric and get on with solving the real problems that face this country. And as long as we keep getting caught up in the political games, we are not going to get anywhere, fast. One thing I heard Pickens say, that I agree with…

We are paying for both sides of the war that we`re in. Source : CNN.com – Transcripts

It’s true, and it’s crazy.

That is the goal!

Currently I own 2 vehicles, a large family car and a pickup truck. I have always considered a pickup truck a necessity. Even if it is not driven daily, every man needs a pickup truck. However, with the price of fuel it is time to go back to a more fuel efficient car, and since I do not want any payments the only option is to find a good used fuel efficient car.

The car of choice for me is an old Volkswagen Beetle, the downside is that the Beetle was never a great car when it comes to air conditioning. This is not that big of a deal for me, but not sure my family would appreciate it too much. The other option is to go a little farther back in time since I am an old school kind of mechanic. I had a 1975 Ford Maverick that was just right for me, but it was totaled during Katrina. Now if I could find something like that again it would be great. Of course finding an antique car at a good price, that is a real trick these days.

The local news is reporting an increase in electricity prices in the neighborhood of 28%. I guess it is time to start doing something to help myself since it is obvious that we are going to continue to see prices rise.

Researching Solar Power can be a little depressing. The savings can be fantastic, but the startup costs can be pretty high which in tun makes the return on investment a long road. I have located a couple used panels and I am going to do some research and testing to see how hard it will be to do something that can actually impact the costs of power.

I am also looking for an old Volkswagen Beetle. Not one of the new ones, but the good old classic rear engine type. I have had a couple in the past and they were the best cars I ever owned when it came to fuel mileage and how easy they were to work on.

For the most part I think I am a pretty intelligent guy, and for the life of me I can not answer this question.

It is getting crazy. Friday our local gas prices went up about 5 cents. I filled up somewhere near the top of that price range, around $3.49 a gallon. And that price was still there on Saturday.

On the way to work today, just 2 days later, that same gas station had the price at $3.61 a gallon.

Now c’mon people, what is up with that. Really, what is causing the gas prices to go up 15 cents almost overnight?

I personally think we need to start looking at drilling more in our own Country and build some refineries. Why do we have to continue to rely on the Middle East for oil? What deals have we made in the past that is locking us into this?

And do not try to tell me it is all President Bush’s fault, I don’t buy it. This has been coming for a lot longer than his administration has been around.

I am not up to date on the Mark Foley story, but, I am sick of hearing his name already. Why does the MSM continue to focus on everything that is negative in this world?

Google is on a roll. More like a massive snowball rolling downhill, they have released so many excellent systems over the last 6 months it is amazing. And they have gone back and updated a lot of the older systems. Just look at the list:

Google Reader

Google Groups

Google Personalized Home Page

Google Gadgets

Google Base

Google Maps API v2

Google Calendar API

Google Web Toolkit

Google AJAX Search API

Google Checkout API

Google Gadgets for Your Page

Microsoft who ? The other big movers seem to be in the video market these days. YouTube continues to be extremely popular, and that is why the rumors were bound to start about Google buying YouTube.

And lets not forget all that social software business and sites like MySpace.

Ok, forget about the Net. Is there anything good on TV, well, yes and no. Seems like we have a million choices with only a handful of shows we may want to watch. Once again, thanks to technology I can trust my DVR to capture just what I want and forget about the rest.

Of course, soon I may be able to afford to drive around again with Gas prices teetering at the $2.00 mark. Now isn’t that funny, in just over a year, we go from thinking $2 is outrageous on gas to thinking it’s a steal. Tell me we can’t be programmed!

$2.43 is still ridiculous, but, I am glad to see a little relief. Now if gasoline prices would drop some more I could afford to go to the grocery store.
