Jackson Mississippi on Google Street View

Google announced yesterday that Jackson, MS is one of 37 new areas that have been added to their Street View Maps.
To celebrate Street View’s one year birthday, I am very happy to announce we are bringing Street View to 37 (you heard me - 37!) new areas and we have expanded coverage in 15 of our existing areas. All in all, this effectively doubles our coverage. Link : Street View turns 1, keeps on growing
Between this and the new Real Estate maps there is a lot to take in on Google Maps for the Jackson area. Now you can easily [...]

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Gets Wayfinder Navigator With Real-Time Traffic

Sony Ericsson has teamed up with Wayfinder to offer Wayfinder Navigator on the new Xperia X1 mobile phone.  Users can search for businesses or an individuals name or phone number and Navigator will find the destination and calculate the shortest or fastest route there, by foot or by vehicle.  We all know that the shortest route isn’t necessarily the fastest route, but real-time traffic and speed camera info makes sure Navigator picks whichever is optimal.  Using routinely updated TeleAtlas ma

Monday: Hey, Republicans, wanna know a secret?

We know why you’re angry.  You probably haven’t figured it out yet.  To be honest, we’ve always felt you were a little clueless about what was going on.  We’re not being elite. Oh, Hell, yes we were.  We thought we were smarter than you.  Actually, some of us *are* smarter than you.  Some of us are smarter than our Democratic brether, er, siblings.  Well, maybe smarter isn’t exactly the word.  Let’s just say we know when people are trying to sell us something.  We’re not impluse buyers.  We list

ReGeneration Roadtrip: Retrace our steps

By Sarah van Schagen It's been almost three weeks since I left Seattle to meet up with a total stranger and drive across the country in search of hope for a sustainable future. Well, hope we found -- pretty much everywhere we looked. It was like a hope buffet, if you will, and believe you me, we tried to cram as much of it in as we could on our 15-day journey. Which meant that we didn't end up with a whole lot of extra time for updating y'all with Flickr pics and pretty maps and etc. Our apo

The ancient city of Histria

On the shore of Lake Sinoe in Romania, very close to the Black Sea, lie the ruins of the oldest documented city on the territory of modern-day Romania: Histria. (See satellite view below, or go to Google Maps to explore the full map.) We visited it in September of 2008. It started its life around 630 BC [reference], built by Milesian colonists from Greece, to trade with native Getae tribes (Geti in Romanian). The Getae were Thracian tribes that occupied Dacia, whose territory is matched i

Samsung Omnia \ WM6 SatNat

Totally un-related to work, but hey, it's a Monday!! Have just got myself a new Samsung Omnia (SGH-i900 I think is the model number) and wondered if anyone had any ideas on some decent satnav software?! The GPS is great and I normally get about 7 or 8 connections, but it only comes built in with google maps - which is fine, but has it's limitations! Any advice \ experiences \ knowledge would be most appreciated! Dave Dave5952 — Mobile Devices & SmartPhones — Reply

Google Maps: LBC broken and more

This posting from yesterday’s Google Maps Business Owners Group was of interest to me. The Local Business Center has been broken for several weeks, preventing many business owners from updating listings. There have been numerous reports in the Groups of this problem. As noted in the comment, when a business attempts to update an LBC record, the following message is frequently recieved: System Error We’re sorry, but we are unable to serve your request at this time. Google has yet to acknow

The satellite is primarily funded by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency(NGA) with Google being the second largest funder. The satellite is able to take pictures at a resolution of 41cm which is close enough to zoom in on the home plate of a baseball diamond. Mobile Phones and Learning (Another Round Up)

As I’m getting ready for Handheld Learning 2008, I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading online about the use of mobile phones for teaching and learning. I didn’t realize how much is being written about this topic until I started digging a little deeper. Here are some highlights of what I’ve run across in the past few days: One of the first posts I read that got me thinking about mobile phones some more is this one by Steve Dembo. In it, he provides a run down of features that he has on his phone

Google- An integrated future

But reading between the lines, who actually wants to be JUST a search engine? OK there is a fair bit of money involved in it, but for how long? Agencies and clients alike are now looking for integrated digital marketing solutions to meet their expanding need for engagement throughout the buying cycle. The large publishers have woken up to this and are changing their focus from individual advertising channels to integrated solutions, with the latest challenge to become an advertising platform
