Tornadocane
I guess you could say I am a little bit of a weather buff. Until Hurricane Katrina took a path that put us in the dark for several days and scared the daylights out of us, we (my wife and I) would look forward to a little stormy weather. Now, we are a little more leary of a big storm, yet we still like the rain with thunder and lightning.
Anyway, I found this posting at the Weather Channel to be very interesting and worth a look.
THE TORNADOCANE
Late in the game
whats up fellas, ok so heres the story. about 4 months ago i dropped a random bag seed into a plant pot i had outside on my balcony, keep in my mind i've never grown and wasnt really thinking about it. well the pot gods have graced me with a baby girl. I wish i had kept better data of the start date and grow process but i was a little stoned everytime i thought about it. well now she is atleast 5 ft tall and about 2 weeks ago she sexed. how long until harvest time anybody? there were hurricane
notes in preparation for a hurricane
Today I filled my tank got $200 in cash and helped some guys find a gas station even though they did not appear to have a car. I also lined up three places to be when the hurricanes come or don't come, in which case I will just loaf on their sofas and turn off the lights like it was a readiness drill and I was a sleepy refugee. Tomorrow I need flashlights because I have all these useless batteries and I need to cook the chicken in my freezer and boil the dry beans I keep by my canned beans.

400 miles…
That’s the round trip miles on my car today. 0630 found me on the road headed to Houma Louisiana. That’s where we have an office that serves as the onshore side of one of our offshore platforms. The offshore platform serves to collect natural gas from several offshore gas fields and then it pushes it into a pipeline towards the shore where it’s distributed to whoever needs it. So Hurricane Gustav comes roaring through and it deals pain to the offshore stuff and it tears the hell out of the
New York 2: still sunny - New York City, New York, United States
Jump to the full entry & travel map New York City, New York, United States While the media here is completely saturated with coverage of all the hurricanes and tropical storms that are threatening the United States, the sun shines on in New York. We make the most of it, since our paths will soon cross with that of the tail-end of tropical storm Hannah or hurricane Ike. Yesterday was devoted to some very typical New York tourist attractions: the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Both pre
Hysterical : Hurricane Gustav Hoses FeltJungle.com
This is funny. Or not. Despite the renewal fee being paid a few days ago, domain registration for FeltJungle.com expired today, turning the site into a giant advertisement for a hat (above). My guess is that the folks who deal with processing of such things at our domain registrar (located in New Orleans) were part of the evacuation of Nawlins due to Hurricane Gustav. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. During Hurricane Katrina aftermath, they live blogged all sorts of de
Storm warnings
A big chunk of the East Coast, from Georgia to New York, is under some sort of warning or watch this morning, as Tropical Storm Hanna followed closely by Hurricane Ike threaten to wreak havoc. Governors of North Carolina and Virginia have declared a states of emergency. FEMA and the American Red Cross are mobilizing.

Showboat
Having been part of an emergency management team during a hurricane I can tell you that visiting pols are a distraction and a diversion of resources. There is a legitimate purpose to a Governor or Crime Control Secretary visiting but most others are rubbernecking or showboating.
This, that, and the other thing
Yeah, I know it's been sorta quiet around here. I was really trying to enjoy my last official day of vacation, but I've had a lingering migraine all day. It got so poundy during the mid-morning that I took a nap with hubby rubbing my temples and slept until 1:30pm. I then had a little something for lunch, checked a few things online, and we headed to our favorite membership wholesaler for some staples. We got a few things in preparation for Hurricane Ike, since it seems that we are in the cone
Hanna on the Verge of a Hurricane
As of the 5 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, Hanna was still classified as a tropical storm. Its maximum sustain winds were 70 mph, 4 miles shy of hurricane strength. Gusts were at or above hurricane strength. Hurricane Hunters found that Hanna’s central pressure had risen from 980 mb at 7 a.m EDT to 984 mb at the latest report at 4:11 p.m. EDT. On satellite, Hanna appeared to be more organized and symmetric and could be a category 1 hurricane when it makes landfall between the
Kicking Things Off, Storm Free, At Stafford Motor Speedway
No hurricane here . . . , yet. By the way, if there was a hurricane here, you think if they shut the lights off it might go away? Sorry, couldn't resist. While the remainder of the racing schedule this weekend locally looks quite fluid, it's a beautiful night at Stafford Motor Speedway. And the racing is rolling on here at the track where Joey Ferrigno of East Hartford was celebrating after holding off Bill Davis of Monson, Mass. in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature. It was the seco

Molo-Gustav Cocktail
While Cubans recover and somehow find a way to survive on their own after the devastation of Hurricane Gustav, they can feel better about their slave master's lack of attention. You see, their slave master would love to help but he's a little busy right now. Even though the normally tough life experienced by the non-elite Cuban majority has gotten exponentially tougher after Gustav, the slave master can only do so much. Especially when he's so busy planning for this: Cuba to Organize 2
