91st Indianapolis 500
This weekend is the running of the 91st Indianapolis 500.
For the first time in the history of the race there are 3 female drivers, Danica Patrick, Sarah Fisher, and Milka Duno. Maybe this will help breath some life back into this race and raise some more interest for the IndyCar Series.
This is also the first year that the cars will be running on 100% ethanol!

Paul’s pro pigskin prognostications week 12
Last week saw a slip to 8-7-1 making the prognostications 98-58-1 for the season. Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh: Ocho Cinco is on the shelf this evening, exactly for what has yet to be determined. That means the Bungals have about 2 chances this evening, especially coming off a short week especially coming off an overtime tie. Steelers 31 Bengals 3 Houston @ Cleveland: Two teams going nowhere, but at least the Browns are at home. Browns 28 Texans 20 Tampa @ Detroit: The Bucs are gearing up for t
Still Hope For The Chargers?
In a year that will someday be defined by "Hope" (whether it is warranted or not), can we say that the Chargers truly have any? Well, technically they aren't out of it, thanks to the horrible level of competition provided by the rest of the AFC West. But do the Chargers really have any hope for a playoff berth, or are they headed for an offseason filled with some much needed "Change"? Let's take a closer look... The AFC Wildcard berth currently looks like this: With the Jets, Steelers, T

View All Dolphins Blog Posts 19 November 2008 No Respect For The Game posted by utopia1dc Just this past Sunday (November 16th), something occurred in the NFL during a post-game news conference that has left me dumbfounded. The Eagles and Bengals played to a 13-13 tie. Usually that would be news in of itself, since ties are very rare in the NFL. In fact, the last tie came in 2002. The last time an Eagles game ended in a tie was, coincidentally, on November 16, 1997 agains

NFL Best and Worst Rankings: Week 11
After a few weeks without updating these rankings, I’m back with a post-Week 11 edition. From here on out, the rankings will be a top 10 and bottom 10, as opposed to the previous top 5 and bottom 5. Now, if you’re into NFL football betting, you might have been one of many bettors affected one way or another by the wacky end of Pittsburgh’s 11-10 win over San Diego on Sunday, when Troy Polamalu’s disallowed touchdown was good news for those who took San Diego to beat the spread, and bad news fo

NY Giants - Clearly prepared to defend their title the Giants are playing to win. 2. Carolina - Did anyone predict they would be here now? 3. Tennessee - I refuse to believe they are for real. 4. Arizona - The playoffs are coming! The playoffs are coming! 5. NY Jets - Is this team really a serious contend
Nintendo Wii buying guide for Christmas 2008
Nintendo Wii buying guide for Christmas 2008 November 18th, 2008 After two incredible sell out years this holiday season will be the third for Nintendo’s Wii and once again it is tipped to be the number one present this year. Lots of people have been asking us if a Nintendo Wii is right for them and if so; how to buy a Wii when they seem to be sold out everywhere and what games and or accessories do they need to purchase. Here especially for you is our guide to buying a Wii this November
Outside Looking In
With Week 11 of the NFL season now complete, it has become evident that the Patriots lost a lot more than a grudge match (and the divisional lead) last Thursday night. They also lost a berth in the playoffs, if they started today. The disappointing loss to the Jets in overtime, combined with the results from Sunday’s action, has dropped the Pats to third in the AFC East and eighth in the conference with six games to play. It’s hard to swallow, but there’s a month a half left and the Patriots
IndyCar: Judge Rejects Movement To Delay Helio Castroneves Tax Evasion Trial
Helio Castroneves, the 33 year old Brazilian star and one of the most recognizable faces in the IndyCar Series, has received some horrible news. U.S. District Judge Donald Graham has rejected all requests for delaying the start of the trial for Tax Evasion charges against the racing phenom. The trial is set to begin in Miami on March 2nd, 2009. This presents several challenges for Helio Castroneves, as well as his current employer, Penske Racing. Helio’s contract stipulates that he must be ab
The price of glory
The price of glory November 17th, 2008 at 12:06 pm by Jim Donnelly The number that counts here is 1,500. That, roughly, is the number of American racing drivers who have lost their lives in open-cockpit cars since the earliest days of the sport. Most serious followers of the sport can already look at a photo of the green flag at an Indianapolis 500 from the early 1950s with the knowledge that a lot of those drivers didn’t live to see John F. Kennedy elected to the White House. The book we’re
Brian Howey: Buckle Up, Hoosiers, We’re in for a Rough Week
By BRIAN A. HOWEY NASHVILLE, Ind. - The fate of tens of thousands of Hoosier jobs will be debated in the U.S. Senate beginning today. The decision - coming as soon as Wednesday - could usher in a reprieve for the American auto industry and the Indiana economy. Or it could signal a new chapter fraught with hardship in this part of the nation where the auto industry began a century ago. President-Elect Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Big 3 automa
Cosmetic Oprah Kind of Change
The change is indeed only cosmetic, and is presented as such. But when it comes to substance, the "change" falls short. The two party system is a system put into place to give the illusion of change and difference, but really is just a means to fool people into believing so. Pick Six
1-8-1 down, 6 games to go. Fearless Forecast: the Cincinnati Bengals will go no worse than .500 through the end of the season. Here’s the lineup: @ Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers and the Bengals have a habit of swapping wins in each others’ houses, but the Steelers’ 38-10 drubbing of the Bengals in week 7 argues that this habit won’t be forming this year. It’s a division game, any given Sunday, blah blah blah, I’m just not buying it. File this one under “L.” Baltimore Ravens. I have this o

L.D. Bell Band rolls toward tonight's BOA finals
Wow! To keep things in perspective: - 500 bands participated in Bands of America competitions. - 90 came to the Grand National Championship in Indianapolis - 33 advanced to tonight's semi-final round, and the Blue Raider Band is there. (This photo is from the semis round) Here's how the semis played out: Bell got Outstanding Music among Division 3A schools (with more than 1,150 students) and third overall in the 3A Division. But the slate is clean for finals. Three more hours of marching

People are still filing out of what I imagine to be very congested spaces and rallies across the country, but I thought I'd go around the Web and find some reports. AP: Gay rights supporters waving rainbow colors marched, chanted and danced in cities coast to coast Saturday to protest the California vote that banned gay marriage there and urge supporters not to quit the fight for the right to wed. Many cast it as a civil rights issue. Crowds gathered near public buildings in small communiti

I guess the Phillies won the World Series the other night? Beat the Rays? Played a three-inning game or something? Who knew… I'm
