Football questions this week.
1.) Can the Colts offense get past the Bears defense?
2.) Can the Bears offense get past themselves?
3.) Is Norv Turner the next Dallas Cowboys Head Coach?
4.) Did Jerry Jones really consider Wade Phillips as a possible candidate?

Cowboys sign Williams
The Dallas Cowboys signed Roy Williams to an extension, and that is good news. But, if you read between the lines you will see the bad news. America’s Team is in some real trouble on the marketing (players) front.
“He probably is the second-most visible player we’ve got on this team right now, Terrell (Owens) being the first,” Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones said of Williams after the morning practice in Oxnard, Calif. “Roy through his play brings leadership and basically will be one of the main signatures on our defense.” - Jerry Jones
Oh boy, if Terrell Owens is the most [...]
Felix Jones should be fine in six months
As much as it hurt, it wasn't a tough decision for the Cowboys to schedule season-ending surgery for RB Felix Jones. Even if Jones toughed it out with a torn ligament under his left big toe, he wouldn't have had the explosiveness that makes him a big-play threat. The potential for long-term problems with the toe made it an easy decision to send the rookie to the operating room. Jones is expected to make a full recovery after getting the surgery done, which will happen Saturday in Charlotte, ac
Romo Pals Around With Homeless People
According to ESPN.com, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo treated one lucky homeless person to a day at the movies. “The man, who goes by Doc, was outside a theater in Dallas when a man came up and offered to pay his way to see a movie. Planning on passing out fliers for a consignment store across the street, Doc declined. But then he realized that he had just turned down Romo.” It is not yet known whether or not Jerry Jones intends to sign the troubled ‘Doc’ to the active roster. ShareThis
Cowboys vow not to let Pacman Jones drama be a distraction
Dave Campo's take on the Valley Ranch circus atmosphere hit the bulls-eye. "The Cowboys always have distractions," Campo said. "That's part of being a Cowboy. If you can't handle those things, you're not going to do well in this organization, really." Only Jerry Jones can deny that the Pacman Jones drama has the potential to turn into a major distraction. It's up to the Cowboys players to make sure that doesn't happen while they battle for a playoff berth. "You're so focused that you want to
Pacman Jones reinstated by NFL, is back on his own (AP)
Twice-suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones will be on his own in his return to the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. This time, there will be no team-employed bodyguards to accompany Jones and try to keep him out of trouble. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday that the cornerback, who completed the inpatient portion of his NFL-ordered alcohol treatment in the Boston area, was being reinstated…
Coaches say it's premature to discuss Pacman Jones' role
Defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and secondary coach Dave Campo didn't want to speculate about Pacman Jones' role once he's allowed back on the field. The coaches will have a couple weeks to evaluate Pacman in practice. They want to see what kind of shape he's in and how much knowledge of the defense he's retained before even thinking about whether he'll be a starter, a nickel back or a benchwarmer. "We've just got to wait for him to get here, take a look at what he has retained from bein

The First Billion May be Harder Than Ever
T. Boone Pickens wasted no time before bringing up the state of the economy at last night’s private book signing: “Kind of a funny time to come out with a book called The First Billion Is the Hardest,” he said. Standing among the intimate group of friends and admirers, a man yelled back, “Still is, Boone,” as the crowd burst into laughter. It was a mix of business types and celebrities in the Highland Park home of Jeff Rich and Jan Miller. Ebby Halliday, Jerry Jones, Emmitt Smith, and Michael
Time For Pacman To Be A Man
We’ve learned the football player formerly known as Pacman was reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this week, nearly two months since Adam Jones was suspended for yet another off the field incident. Reading some of the stories regarding Jones and his return, one might get the impression he’s finally turned a corner. Adam "Pacman" Jones Jones’ latest incident involved a scuffle outside a Dallas hotel with a bodyguard the Cowboys’ had assigned to him. In effect, the Cowboys’
Adam Pacman Jones is Back in the NFL
It has been reported that Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Pacman Jones was released from his alcohol treatment center earlier this week, and now he was simply waiting to hear from the NFL to find out if he would be allowed to play again. It appears that Adam will not have to wait long before being reinstated, but actually getting back onto the football field may take some time. Roger Goodell announced on Wednesday that he was going to reinstate Adam Jones this week. Upon hearing that news, Dal
Firing security detail is solution to all Pacman Jones' problems
At least I think that's the case after listening to Jerry Jones' appearance on The Ticket this morning. Once again, Jerry pointed the finger at team-appointed bodyguard/babysitter Tommy Jones for the jivin' at the Joule gone wrong. Jerry has canned Pacman's four-man, around-the-clock security crew, since one of those guys supposedly got Pacman in hot water (after some cold drinks). "How ironic is it that my own effort to do the thing as good as we could do it actually caused us problems?" Jer
Adam Jones Cleared To Return To Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has been cleared to return to the team Monday, but won’t play in a game for another two weeks, owner Jerry Jones said this afternoon. “I think he has done what he has been asked to do,” Jerry Jones said after a news conference in Arlington to announce the new Cowboys stadium as host site for the 2014 NCAA Men’s Final Four. “If anybody understands the kinds of things you deal with to get better, it’s probably going to be an ongoing thing. I do know
Final Four in Arlington: Will I need a telescope?
Congratulations to Jerry Jones et al for snagging the Final Four basketball championship at the new Cowboys Stadium. But it's hard for me to fathom watching basketball in a stadium that size. I have roosted in the top rows of the American Airlines Center for Mavericks games and found it hard to really get engaged in the ant-like competition below. Any of you been to a basketball game in a football stadium? Did it work?
Four things I wonder about the Adam Jones' situation:
**Do you think the NFL liked that Jerry Jones was the person who said Adam Jones was reinstated? The league's comments so far have been "no comment," and later, "when there is a final determination, we will announce it." So I wonder if a "final determination" has been made by the league. **I'm not one who usually gets caught up in team chemistry. I think that's an overrated thing brought up by the media and fans. Good teams can have bad chemistry and still win because they're good. Bad teams
NFL Reinstates Adam “Pacman” Jones
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has decided to reinstate Dallas Cowboys thug cornerback Adam Jones. He is expected to return December 7th when the Cowboys go to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. “He much appreciates the Cowboys and Jerry Jones for standing behind him and encouraging him, and he’s grateful to the commissioner,” said Adam Jones’ attorney, Worrick Robinson. After being suspended for the entire 2007 season and numerous run-ins with the law, I’m suprised the NFL is letting hi
A very Cowboys post
The man on the right has it all under control ... seriously If you don't listen to Troy Aikman's show on The Ticket -- Thursdays, about 8 a.m., I guess -- then you're dumb. He's funny, personable and candid. **** Pacman Jones was reinstated. Projected first game: Dec. 4 against Pittsburgh. I don't know what to really think. Frankly, if Jones' return really makes this team regress into the lackluster group they were, then this team sucked anyway. It should have no impact as to whether those gu
NFL Giving Pacman Jones Multiple Hand Jobs.
The NFL has reinstated Pacman Adam Jones. Outside of being a Somali Pirate, he pretty much has free rain when it comes to mischief outside the lines. How many chances does this dude get? A statement from Jones attorney summed up the saga~ There was a period of time where security was in place and it worked, but just like anything, it wasn't foolproof. If the individual -- in this instance, Adam -- doesn't want to make the right decisions to protect himself and the team and the
The Czech Republic has apparently learned a lot about democracy in a short time. It seems that Czech lower house chairman Miloslav Vlcek may have used his position to get 35 million Czech crowns worth of funding for a soccer stadium in his hometown. See the full article here. At the current exchange rate that is only about 1.7 million dollars. On the other hand, there are only 3000 people in the town where the stadium was built. The facility is the only one in the country with artificial gras
Can’t Bear To Watch Lovie Smith’s Defense
Maybe the Rams have a chance against the Bears after all. Former NFL lineman Warren Sapp looked over the Chicago defense and was appalled by what he saw. “Holy smokes! I wouldn’t think I’d see something like this,” Sapp told WSCR-AM in Chicago. “I know Lovie Smith, and I know the type of work that he puts in week-in and week-out. He can’t be happy with this. “I’m watching a drive right now that is pretty much ‘road grade’ is what we call this. You get all the pebbles out of the way and you l
Pacman Jones reinstated by NFL?
(ChattahBox) — Twice-suspended often in trouble cornerback Adam “Pacman” Joneshas been reinstated by the NFL with his current team the Dallas Cowboys. Adam Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season because of multiple incidents while with the Tennessee Titans. In the offseason, he was traded to Dallas and given another chance by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The Cowboys gave him a security team to help keep him in line, but on Oct. 7, Jones got into an alcohol-related scuffle with one o
JJT: Shameless plug
There's no way in the world Jerry Jones should let Adam Jones back on this team this year. Here's a snippet from my column in today's DMN: Think about it: What did Pacman show us during the six games he played before he was suspended following a scuffle with a member of his own security team at a trendy downtown hotel? Not much. He certainly wasn't as good as advertised. He was a bad punt returner and an average cornerback. We probably expected too much, considering he didn't play in 20
