Dale Jr. Moving On

It was good to see Dale Earnhardt, Jr. make a decision about his future. I was not the biggest Dale Earnhardt fan, at least not at first. But, I would love to see Junior join Richard Childress and drive the black # 3 Chevrolet that his dad made so famous.
Junior is different than most. He has incredible skill, a clear head, great vision and an outstanding attitude. If you watch and listen to him race, it is hard not to at least respect him as one of the best in Nascar today.
My picks for the team Dale Jr. will join, [...]

Bad Boy No More: Probation For Joey Logano Rescinded By NASCAR

NASCAR announced Thursday that its National Stock Car Racing Commission has rescinded the probation levied against Nationwide Series regular and soon to be Sprint Cup Series regular Joey Logano. The 18-year old Middletown native had been placed on probation through Dec. 31 as part of NASCAR's penalties after Logano's Joe Gibbs Racing Nationwide Series had been found using magnets under the gas pedals on their cars to skew the results of a NASCAR dynamometer which would have measured engine h

Davis set for truck debut with Randy Moss owned team

Besides the much-heralded Sprint Cup debut of Joey Logano at Richmond, another 18-year-old Gibbs driver, Marc Davis, will make his first start this weekend. Davis is in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Saturday at Gateway International Speedway, in a truck fielded by the new Randy Moss Motorsports team. Davis, who is black, was originally signed by Gibbs as part of the Joe Gibbs Racing/Reggie White diversity program.

The Three Worst Kept Secrets in NASCAR this Season

Without a question or a doubt, here are the 3 worst kept secrets in NASCAR this season Worst kept secret #1: Tony Stewart Leaving Joe Gibbs Racing to become part owner of Haas CNC, to be renamed Stewart-Haas Racing.  It seems like a week after he announced that he was considering offers from other teams, everyone had him at Haas CNC Racing.  Even those of us who couldn’t understand why he would leave for such a mediocre team were beginning to believe it. Worst kept secret #2: 2008 Daytona 500

NSCRC Overturns Stewart and Lagano Probation in Spacergate

Good news for Tony Stewart and Joey Lagano. The National Stock Car Racing Commission heard the appeal of Joe Gibbs Racing on their probation and agreed that they shouldn’t be punished. The appeal concerned two penalties issued by NASCAR to the Joe Gibbs pair for actions taken after the Nationwide Series race at MIS. Here’s the rather odd wording from NASCAR: Briefly, the penalties concern: Section 12-4-A of the NASCAR Rulebook: “Actions detrimental to stock car racing.” Section 8-9 Competi

Looking at The Chase as a Team Event

Looking at The Chase as a Team Event September 3rd, 2008 by mike Since a lot of people dislike the Chase format, maybe this is the year to feature a different playoff format. NASCAR is more of a team sport than ever before and talk of franchising is occasionally breached so let’s take it a step further. Let’s make it a four way fight to determine the true NASCAR juggernaut. If Clint Bowyer hangs on, the field of 12 will feature only four teams: Joe Gibbs Racing, Roush-Fenway Racing, Hendrick M

Whisking Through Wednesday

Gathering together the snigglets of news thus far this week... ... but before the NASCAR items, in the real world hope you don't mind me mentioning the first available part of something I've been working on since the beginning of 2006. As noted earlier, Joe Gibbs Racing shocked the world Monday by announcing Joey Logano will be taking over the #20 Home Depot car next year. Is he ready for the ride? Maybe. Is an eighteen year old ready for the life of a Sprint Cup driver? A rich father and
