Yesterday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Jeff Gordon had one of the hardest hits we have seen in some time. After bumping with Matt Kenseth, Gordon’s car spun to the inside of the track and hit at the one spot that is not protected by safer barriers. What really made it worse is the angle of the opening in the wall where Jeff hit. His radiator landed out on the track a long way from where his car came to rest.

After a lengthy battle, the two agreed to join together to build what is today Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Turner was forced out of the company in 1961 and Smith in 1962. I was in my favorite grocery store the other day when I happened upon a display for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s candy bar Dale Jr.’s Big Mo’ in Creamy Caramel.
