Dallas Cowboys clinch Playoff berth !
Thanks to Tony Romo and Marion Barber III I have a reason to watch NFL football for the rest of the year (while I wait for Nascar to start up again!). Although I will admit that I would keep watching the New Orleans Saints too !

Dallas Cowboys Ware and Barber - Doughtful for Steelers Game!
Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware and running back Marion Barber both missed practice on Wednesday, putting their availability in question for this week's game against the Steelers. +++++++++++++++++++ Going into a tough final month that will determine whether the preseason NFC favorite Cowboys even make the playoffs, coach Wade Phillips unveiled a new strategy Wednesday: rest. Phillips sent home Terrell Owens and four other 30-something starters before the full-squad workout and s
Wade Phillips Press Conference: 12/3/08
Summary of Wade Phillips’ press conference today, discussing DeMarcus Ware’s and Marion Barber’s status, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers. Follow the jump to read the press conference. Mike Jenkins we don’t expect to play, Marion Barber we’re hoping he’ll play, he and DeMarcus Ware didn’t practice. Flozell Adams, Marc Colombo, Greg Ellis, Terrell Owens and Zach Thomas went through the meetings, walk-thru and film study, but didn’t practice today. It’s the time of year some of these
Practice report: The Valley Ranch Circus is running strong
Most of the Cowboys are preparing for Sunday's game in frigid Pittsburgh by practicing in the team's Valley Ranch indoor facility. DeMarcus Ware (hyperextended knee) and Marion Barber (dislocated pinkie toe) braved the conditions to work out on a practice field along with fellow rehabbers Mike Jenkins (hamstring) and Mikes Austin (knee). A handful of old dudes -- T.O., Marc Colombo, Flozell Adams, Greg Ellis and Zach Thomas -- were given a veteran's day off by Wade Phillips. (Didn't they have
Film Review: Dallas Cowboys in the trenches (offense)
On Thanksgiving Day, the Dallas Cowboys played one of their most-complete games of the year. Both the offense and defense held up their end of the bargain as Dallas romped to a 34-9 win over the hapless Seattle Seahawks. When I reviewed the game for this particular edition of Film Review, I wanted to concentrate on what the Cowboys were doing in the trenches. What kind of blocking schemes were they using, how was Tony Romo allowed so much time, how has the run defense righted itself, how a
Kawika Mitchell is Strong and Hairy
The Sunday Newspaper is of no use to me. How can I be expected to take recycling seriously when the paperboy is dropping off the dead carcass of a white birch sapling in my neighbors driveway every Sunday? That’s like asking my kids to turn the water off while they’re brushing their teeth, knowing we used 30,000 gallons of water at work earlier in the day. The only saving grace of the Sunday paper, in my opinion, is Parade Magazine. Specifically, Walter Scott’s Personality Parade, the 1-page c
Five Questions With Cowboy Nation
I agreed to do a preview of this Sunday's game with the proprietors of the blog Cowboy Nation. We sent each other five questions, with the arrangement that we'd post each others' answers on our own blog . You can see his questions for me and my responses at his blog.1. If DeMarcus Ware and Marion Barber can't go, how does that affect the Cowboys gameplanning on both sides of the ball? Do you think they win without them?First off, DeMarcus Ware will play as will Marion Barber. Both players would
Fantasy Football Report: Week 13
With the end of Week 13, the fantasy football playoffs have officially begun (SoB league starts in Week 15). Hopefully you were lucky enough to make it. I unfortunately missed the playoffs in one league. Interestingly enough, if I had won just one more matchup, I would have made it to the 8th and final spot. I lost a close matchup 2 weeks ago by less than seven points. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Plaxico Burress Is An Idiot Already noted here at Sports of Boston, Giants WR Plaxico Burr
Last Grasps
Which players will come through in the closing weeks? Count on a few unlikely producers over some big names THOUGH THE Colts have put together a five-game winning streak, they have remained relatively quiet as a fantasy force. That’s about to change, because on the next two Sundays, Indianapolis will face the one-win Bengals and then the winless Lions. And while it’s not as if you can pick up Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai or any other significant member of the offense, you still
Formidable Fives
Which offensive lines besides the Giants’ are dominating in 2008? Senior writer Peter King ranks the rest of the best TITANS They have one of the league’s least mobile QBs in Kerry Collins, yet he has been sacked only seven times this year. Tennessee has had the same line coach, Hall of Fame guard Mike Munchak, since 1997 and the same run-first philosophy since Jeff Fisher became head coach in ‘94. Center Kevin Mawae, a 15-year vet, and tackles Michael Roos and David Stewart (both signed thr
Mike Jenkins Doubtful; Pat Watkins on IR; Pacman To Return
The Dallas Cowboys continue to have injury problems. Safety and special teams guru Pat Watkins injured his neck and was placed on injured reserve. His injury opened up a spot for Adam “Pacman” Jones who will probably return punts and maybe even kicks offs Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Jenkins continues to heal from his hamstring injury and coach Wade Phillips said he is unlikely to play Sunday. The team is thinning out pretty good. Guard Kyle Kozier and rookie running back Fel
The Doctor Examines the Cowboys
In a new Tuesday segment my former Sports Doctors radio partner Dr. Luis Rios reviews the Cowboys injury list. This week he discusses the severity of Marion Barber’s toe injury, Demarcus Ware’s knee and the odds that we’ve seen the last of Tony Romo’s splint. The Doctor Diagnoses Dallas, Dec. 2nd
Top 25 scoring fantasy football players through 13 weeks
It's been 13 weeks since the season started and four since my last posting of the top 25 fantasy football players in the game. As I mentioned last time, this is a list of the top fantasy football scorers so far this season, based on a non-PPR league that Matt and I are in, which follows near-standard scoring rules... Note: The number in parenthesis is the ranking of the player after week 6. 1 (4). Drew Brees, QB, Saints: Brees has been a yardage and touchdown machine this year, even with his
Joy to the world! The fantasy playoffs have come
Screw Christmas, Kwanzaa and all those other December holidays. The event I’ve been eagerly awaiting for months is finally here: fantasy football playoffs. (No offense to those who choose to celebrate the other holidays. I guess they’re OK, too.) Let’s get right to it with the matchups I like and dislike in Week 14, which is the first round of all normal leagues. Who I’m a big fan of: Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall against K.C., Kurt Warner and his teammates against the Rams, all Patriots ag
Impress me, win in Pittsburgh
Go win in the cold, maybe the snow, on the league's worst field before a raucous throng waving their terrible towels and still peeved about the Cowboys' win in Super Bowl XXX. Go prove your high-powered, star-driven offense can score enough points to beat the NFL's most physical defense, a unit that will gladly remove your heart, if given the chance. Go take a significant step toward making the playoffs since the Cowboys would be on the outside looking in, if the post-season started today. Th
Here's why DeMarcus Ware is a Pro Bowler
If there's one no-brainer selection to the NFC roster for the Pro Bowl this season, it's DeMarcus Ware. The outside linebacker has a NFL-best 15 sacks and could reach 20 or more by season's end. Ware's case for the Pro Bowl speaks for itself, but Marcus Spears did a pretty good job building a case for Ware, too. To get this kind of praise from a teammate is impressive. "He's dismantling people on the field," Spears said of Ware. "You have a lot of outside linebackers in this league with a lo
Bittersweet Cowboys victory
For my family, friends and me, the Seattle game was probably the biggest win in the history of the Cowboys. Our daughter, Tammy, was the biggest Cowboys fan probably known to man. She died Nov. 24 and was buried the day after Thanksgiving. For weeks all she talked about was turkey and the Cowboys. She was buried in her Cowboys jersey. I wish the Dallas Cowboys luck and success and thanks for being a part of Tammy's life. Mike Fishbaugh, Middletown, Ohio
THE STEELERS ARE RELATIVELY HEALTHY
Update from Steeler Land: it looks like DB Bryant McFadden will be back in the saddle for Sunday's matchup with Dallas. That's good news, because the secondary will probably have their hands full with Terrell Owens and Roy Williams, although it's worth mentioning that Williams has struggled with the Dallas offense since his rescue from the football Bermuda Triangle of Detroit. His catch totals so far: 0, 2, 1, 3, 3, and 2. So I'm not sure exactly how much we should fear his overpaid presence.DE
Plaxico, the Giants and other news and notes from around the NFL
Plaxico Burress has been charged with two counts of felony possession of a weapon, following an incident in which he accidentally shot himself in a nightclub last Friday night. Burress could face incarceration for 3½ to 15 years. Even if he gets off, he's probably played his last game as a Giant. Giants captain Antonio Pierce may be in trouble as well. He's accused of hiding the gun Burress accidentally shot himself with and Giants fans aren't happy with Pierce or with the club's decision to

Fantasy Football Free Agents: Priority Additions
From: KFFL.com The following group of players should be high on your radar and are worthy of being added immediately to your fantasy football team. J.P. Losman, Quarterback, Buffalo Bills Bills starting quarterback Trent Edwards (groin) left at halftime in Week 13 with a groin injury, and the team has announced he is out indefinitely.
