Instamatic Karma by May Pang

May Pang is getting a lot of press with her new book Instamatic Karma. I am sure a lot of people do not even know who May Pang is. She was the woman that John Lennon spent 18 months with in the middle of his marriage to Yoko Ono. That period in Lennon’s life has been referred to as his “Lost Weekend”. The new book is of photographs from that period.
This type of News always amazes me. 27 years after John Lennon was killed a book of photographs can create such a buzz.

A Halloween Tale...

A Halloween Tale Twas the night before all Hallows Eve when the goblins and ghosts fly through the air their spirits searching for something frightening and something to scare. All the little children excited in the anticipation of getting the mother load in candy and treats to fill their oversized knapsacks and their colorful plastic pumpkins as they walk the darkened streets of gloom and doom. Made up in their colorful costumes they imitate witches, Ninjas, pop stars and

All we are saying . . .

Is please go away: It was John Lennon's birthday, so a peaceful time was guaranteed for all. Peace, in fact, was breaking out all over Civic Center Thursday as the Imagine Peace Paint-In drew hundreds of the curious and pacifists to hear music and talks, including one from May Pang, the ex-Beatle's former companion. Not even Yoko Ono. Yoko Ono's Yoko Ono. "I was watching the movie The U.S. Versus John Lennon and saw the great things John and Yoko did for peace," said organizer Dana Cain. She qu

I Love The Barrio Life

Just like Reynz, I love the barrio life too. I really do. Napaka laidback. Walang masyadong stress. Wag lang magkaka-typhoon. Have you lived in the barrio? I will tell you what it is to live a barriotic life, and why I soo love it and hate it sometimes. Been there, done that. On afternoons, we make plans to have a stroll in the forest to enjoy the wonders of nature… …or pack our lunch and have a great picnic in this very pleasant garden Where else can you find the joy and tranquilit

Truth About Schaffer's Garment Factory Claims

October 11, 2008 Since April 2008, Bob Schaffer, the Republican candidate for Colorado's U.S. Senate, has claimed he shut down a garment factory in Saipan. (See this post.) He has several different versions of what he actually did. In some interviews he said he shut it down, in some he claimed that he helped to shut it down. Furthermore, the former Abramoff foot soldier has never come up with a name for the factory he claims to have shut down, even though he has been asked to name it

Why the Singaporeans tolerate the injustices inflicted on JBJ or J.B. Jeyaretnam?

Why the Singaporeans tolerate the injustices inflicted on JBJ or J.B Jeyaretnam? Comment: I am ashamed to be a citizen of ASEAN together with this kind of shamelessly vindictive country and government. Now it is sure they are not better than the Myanmar Military Government. I wonder why the Singaporeans’ hearts are hardened to tolerate this kind of atrocities inflicted on your citizens. Western democratic countries also decided to close their eyes and mouths shut because those atrocities are com

Storm Rider: Clash of Evils (风云决)

It's been more than 10 years since Andrew Lau brought Ma Rong Cheng's long running comic book series to the big screen, helped by commendable and eye popping visual effects in its time not seen in martial arts epics, and of course starring two Hong Kong leading men at the time, Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng, in the lead roles of Cloud and Wind respectively, together with Sonny Chiba's memorable take and immense graphic novel likeness as chief villain Conquer. Granted there were some gripes amongst p

An impartial participant can help get rid of clutter

Sentimental clutter can be the most difficult clutter to clear from your spaces. “Oh, I remember this!” is the exclamation that inevitably gets tossed around while trying to clean out a closet, basement, or attic. Until you went to organize the space, you probably had no idea that you were holding onto these items. You’re then struck with the pang of nostalgia and you flirt with the idea of keeping everything you’ve rediscovered. If you are going to take the time to clear your home of clutter,

Litratong Pinoy #13 (luma)

LP28 - Luma Na

Make Mine a Double: Part I

*Don't forget to enter my giveaway for a beautiful clutch from Bee Gee Bags! Click here for details. Exactly two years ago (give or take a week), I looked like this: And yes - it was just as uncomfortable as it appears. And what is even more outrageous is that I remember looking at that picture and thinking it was "flattering" - that it made my stomach look less gigantic than it actually was. So apparently, I was even bigger in real life. People who have never been pregnant before can pick the

The Expulsive Power of a New Affection Revisited

And they said to him, “The disciples of John fast often and offer prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink.” 34 And Jesus said to them, “Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? 35 The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.” 36 He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece f
