Isolationism as reverse psychology
Sometimes, thoughts just pop in my head and I wonder if they have any possible real value?
With all the problems in the world community today and the inability of fixing anything by anyone, I wonder what would happen if all of a sudden the United States just pulled out of every place that is not our soil and proclaimed…
“We are now going to practice Isolationsim”
Kill each other, we don’t care, go ahead, really, it’s ok. We believe we have everything we need to protect ourselves and our borders are now closed. It’s going to be a little tougher on [...]
What is the truth?
What is the truth ?
Does it matter?
Today it seems that the truth takes a backseat to the opinion. Truth, to many (at least the MSM) is not important, the opinion is. And how popular and how well marketed the opinion, how successful the story. And if the truth does not make the story as interesting, then just slant the opinion for the desired result.
Just look at the stories in the news. Is it truth or opinion that makes it to headlines?

Busted For Dropping The F-Bomb At Wal-Mart?
Sure enough. Kathyrn Fridge, a 28-year-old Texas mom, as reported in the Galveston County Daily News, went with her 2-year-old daughter and mother to Wal-Mart on Aug. 4 to buy batteries just in case Edouard left the county without electricity the following day. As luck would have it (bad luck, that is), there were no batteries. Said Ms. Fridge to her mom: “They don’t have any fucking more.” Unfortunately, La Marque Assistant Fire Marshal Alfred A. Decker IV overheard Ms. Fridge and ... bust

Repressive like the sunrise
So predictable yet so outrageous. Cops in St. Paul have raided the convergence space for anti-RNC protesters, with some bullshit warrant about “incendiary devices”. Last I’ve heard, over a hundred people had been detained, were being photographed and having their possessions searched. No arrests as far as I know. Updates here, I’ll post new news as I get it.
SNEN - New stations have cars lined up around the block (SNEN, rated BUY)
I want to update everyone on SNEN. A friend of mine just returned from a trip to China doing research on some of his Chinese investments. He took pictures of SNEN’s new stations. The good news is they have customers lined up around the block. Actually it is a straight line of cars that was about a mile long. The even better news is that the new regional government has significantly ramped up the approval the approval process and SNEN is now projecting a rapid ramp in the number of stations
Transformers
A behind the scenes look. The Transformers have saved the day! Ehm, sorry. Were you looking for Sam? Fearing the Decepticons? Hoping for Optimus Prime? Here’s my transforming hero… When we left Dublin, I couldn’t bear to part with my faithful mixer. Or my newly purchased sewing machine. Sadly, they run at 240 volts. The rest of America runs at 110 volts. Sigh. But a quick internet search brings news of a step-down AND step up power transformer…on megatron-sale! And I am back in b
Sarah Palin Is the Republican VP Nominee!
I usually try to stay away from partisan politics in this blog, mostly because partisan politics gives me a headache, but this morning's news is pretty irresistible: Sarah Palin, the...
Plano, Texas, is most affluent U.S. city
Teaser: Plano, Texas -- The U.S. Census Bureau's report on income and poverty found Plano, Texas, to be the nation's most affluent city -- a result that surprised even the mayor. Story: The annual report, released Tuesday, said the Dallas suburb, which has a population of about 260,000, had the lowest poverty rate and highest income among cities with populations of more than 250,000, ABC News reported Friday. "I'd never heard that before," Plano Mayor Pat Evans said. "But it's good to kn
Cellphones As Cash - Our Next Virtual Wallets
According to a 2004 ABC news article, cell phones were long ago predicted to become our “virtual wallets.” Now, in ’2008, it seems that this prediction may actually occur. Can you imagine heading to the…
Something Nice about Palin
Something Nice about Palin Posted by smijer August 29, 2008 No Responses Del.icio.us Digg Technorati … I won’t have much nice to say about her, I’m afraid. I am glad that McCain chose a woman to run with him. I like Joe Biden, but I was rooting for Janet Napolitano for Obama’s running mate. She is a lovely woman. The rest of the information I have about her is either negative, or only potentially positive. But here’s one nugget of good news about McCain’s VP pick: As the governor of a s
