I was raised a Cowboy fan, and I despised Jerry Jones when he fired the beloved Tom Landry, but I could not stop being a Cowboy fan. And now long after the Jimmy Johnson era I still have to root for Dallas.

So here we are, a couple years into the Tony Romo era, and things are not going exactly the way we would like, oh yeah, we got the stadium of stadiums to play in, but if we can’t win games, who cares.

I hate to say it, but the first thing that comes to my mind is that I am old. I clearly remember when Brett Favre came into the NFL as an Atlanta Falcon. And think about that, after one year in Atlanta they traded Brett Favre to the Green Bay Packers for a 17th round pick, can you say OOPS.

Being a Dallas Cowboy fan it is pretty obvious that I am not a Green Bay Packer fan, however, if there is one guy I really respect in Pro sports, it is Brett Favre. He does not always make the perfect play, and he never seemed to be the ultimate example of a NFL Quarterback, but he always gets the job done.

With all the comparisons being made from Tony Romo to Brett Favre I can only hope they materialize. If Romo can be half the quarterback Favre was, we have something to look forward to.

Good luck Brett with whatever you do in the future, and thanks for all the exciting football you gave the fans!

We will certainly see you in the Football Hall of Fame real soon.

With one play Tony Romo showed the Dallas Cowboys where the exit was at Qwest Stadium.

Hard to be real upset with him, he was the main reason the Cowboys made it to the playoffs, and I know I would not want to go through the next 6 months like him thinking about that one play that he was 100% responsible for.

Being a Drew Bledsoe fan the move to Romo was hard to watch at first, but, this kid looks like the real deal. And Marion Barber has certainly been playing at a top notch level.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but you can be assured it was way too much. ESPN reported that the contract was worth a max of $50 million, yes, $50 million. When the 10th overall pick and the second quarterback taken is worth $50 million there is something out of whack. No wonder the average family can not afford to go to a football game.And how does the 10th pick get almost what the third pick got. Vince Young signed with the Tennessee Titans and received a six-year contract worth up to $58 million.

I guess Matt showed us, staying that extra year in college did pay off.

But, if you read between the lines you will see the bad news. America’s Team is in some real trouble on the marketing (players) front.

“He probably is the second-most visible player we’ve got on this team right now, Terrell (Owens) being the first,” Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones said of Williams after the morning practice in Oxnard, Calif. “Roy through his play brings leadership and basically will be one of the main signatures on our defense.” – Jerry Jones

Oh boy, if Terrell Owens is the most visible player, let’s just change the name from the Cowboys to the Dallas SelfishThugs.

How bout them boys, what a slide in 10 years. This is worse than the last slide when the starting QB and Punter were the same guy, and he wasn’t that good at either position.

Old timers are trying to find that new team to help ignite their career one more time.The Top 10 from Draft day are certainly under the microscope, that is, if they showed up to Training Camp yet.

3. Tennessee – Vince Young, QB Texas
4. N.Y. Jets – D’Brickashaw Ferguson, OT Virginia

And of course my personal favorite this year is going to see how Terrell Owens does in Dallas. Being an old Cowboys fan this really hurts. It is going to be very hard to cheer for him no matter how good he does.

Why do people have to be racially motivated to stir up trouble. In an article on ESPN by Michael Smith, he says…

“And so the NFL’s diversity record remains six African-American coaches out of 32. A disappointing loss and an opportunity lost, for sure. But as can be the case with blowouts, minority coaches’ going one-for-nine (and counting) isn’t as bad as it looks.” Link – Race an issue, but networking is still the key

Why is this even a statement? If he checked the population records he would find that the African Amercian population stands at about 12% overall. 6 out of 32 coaches in the NFL equates to 18.75%, so, why is this bad ?

And although I have not found the numbers yet, I would guess that the player ratio for African Americans in the NFL is much higher than 18.75%.

This just bugs me. I am not and have never been considered a racist in any way, shape or form. I could care less what color a person’s skin is. Living in Mississippi I am familiar with the race issues, but why create problems where problems do not exist?

“CANTON, Ohio — Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman and the late Reggie White were among the 15 finalists Wednesday for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”

I personally can not see how Aikman can miss, but, I am a little biased, having been a Dallas Cowboys fan all my life. And I guess there is a little pressure on him now. His new venture with Roger Staubach is Hall of Fame Racing, he needs that HOF endorsement locked in before they hit the track next month.

I have been off since last Wednseday, and I was ready to come back to work. Vacation and Holidays always sound great, but, after a few days I am always ready to get back to my regular schedule. I know, I must be sick or something. I really enjoy my work and look forward to each day in the office. Oh yeah, I have those days where I am tired of it, but, for the most part I really like it.

The NFL season is over and my beloved Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs again. I guess I will watch the Rose Bowl and root for the Texas Longhorns and then patiently (yeah right) wait for the Nascar season to get started. Depending on the games I may even take in some of the NFL playoffs and SuperBowl.
