What is the truth?
What is the truth ?
Does it matter?
Today it seems that the truth takes a backseat to the opinion. Truth, to many (at least the MSM) is not important, the opinion is. And how popular and how well marketed the opinion, how successful the story. And if the truth does not make the story as interesting, then just slant the opinion for the desired result.
Just look at the stories in the news. Is it truth or opinion that makes it to headlines?

Bridges and prostheses
Bridges and prostheses Dentists are of the opinion that there is no natural teeth. Therefore, they will do their utmost to ensure that you keep yours. However, sometimes a tooth is damaged or missing. Fortunately, it is possible to deal with bridges or prostheses. Bridges If a tooth missing, it is important to replace it with a false tooth (or artificial tooth) as soon as possible. This will prevent the remaining teeth to misalignment and cause other problems. The bridge, a
What Do John McCain and the Church have in common?
They both have an image problem. McCain is viewed as a grouchy, irrelevant, old man who palls around with George Bush. (Which if polls are any indicator is worse than palling around with a terrorist.) The Church is viewed as a grouchy, irrelevant, old institution who also for the most part palls around with George Bush. Can we just vote for Palin? Here’s another analogy. Most Americans would be much happier if you just cut John McCain off the ticket. They don’t have as many problems wi
Shadow rant - analysis please…
… Late on Friday night, a little the worse for wear, we posted on the iniquity of the great DJ Shadow coming to China with 5 weeks notice and playing in the musical obscurity that Clubs Richy and Angel will afford. We first contacted Shadow’s people 4 years ago to see if we could bring his prodigious talent to China, and we know that many other serious music biz people here have done the same. He is one of a handful of artists that we felt would be able to change the music
Candidates websites - October 2008
Candidates websites - October 2008 By johnboy ⋅ October 13, 2008 Candidate websites are in decline. Politicians seem to have realised that the web is hostile territory where people won’t always say what you want them to say. Much safer to stick to older school media where opinion can be safely bought and sold, to be ladled to the dwindling band of proles still receptive on their couches. A minority of candidates, however, are still giving the interwebs a go. I plugged the laptop into
Interview Week: Jordan Goldman, CEO of Unigo.com
This week is special. Why? My birthday is on Thursday. That’s right, I turn 25 and cheaper car insurance is just around the corner (except for that speeding ticket I got last week…..). But you know how we do things here at SquaredPeg.com. So keep your gift cards, animal balloons, and the keys to that Porsche. Instead, here is my gift to you. 4 interviews with 4 people from all aspects of higher education. And on Friday I’ll wrap it all up with some new projects to keep an eye on. Today we’
Physician, heal thyself (UPDATED)
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." --Matthew 7:5 I have to laugh at these leftist idiots and Kool-Aid drinkers when they express outrage -- OUTRAGE! -- at what certain malcontents are yelling at Sarah Palin's campaign events. This is a new phenomena: they bash Palin's crowds, and by extension McCain and Palin, because of a few yelling unseemly and venomous things about Obama: "Off with

In Symbian Limited v. Comptroller General of Patents [2008] EWCA Civ 1066, the UK Court of Appeal recently took a broader approach to patentability of software. UK patent attorney and author Paul Cole has written a short article for the Patently-O Patent Law Journal discussing the case and its impact. [Paul Cole Article]. The opinion cites John Duffy's recent "Death of Google's Patents" article also published on Patently-O. Paul Cole Article John Duffy Article Opinion: Symbian v. Comptroller Ge
Paul Krugman's Nobel Prize
By TigerHawk at 10/13/2008 08:28:00 AM The Swedes have given Paul Krugman the Nobel Prize for Economics. If you have only read his columns in the New York Times, you would be right to think this was a decision of Arafatesque idiocy. There are, however, two Paul Krugmans. At least two. Back in the day I read a couple of his pre-partisan books, and they were extremely creative and perceptive. He is far better in that format, writing about his actual academic specialty, than he is in making

Eastern Sea Fisheries Joint Committee
Hi Folks, Many of you will be well aware of all the good work done by Tom Pinborough and others in putting the RSA case at every opportunity and the fact that Tom has been a member of the ESFJC for some time. You may also know that Essex angler Steve Coppolo resigned from that committee earlier in the year. I have recently been appointed to the vacancy that Steve’s resignation created. Tom put a posting on another website announcing this fact and as a result of replies, I would like to take
Naming Rights: Are you plagued by a bad domain name? You may soon have a shot at a better one
The Wall Street Journal looks at the likely approval by ICANN of new gTLDs saying the difficulty in obtaining a .com name will lead many to look at alternatives when they become available. The article refers to domains “the endings on Web addresses, such as .com and .gov”. The article also notes there is disagreement on the outcomes of allocating more gTLDs, with some of the view it will only create confusion in the online marketplace. As to what will succeed, the article says it is hard to pr

I Really Want to Answer Your Real Estate Question, But NEI (Not Enough Information)
In my email was a message: How long would it take to sell a mid-entry style home with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths in Kirkland? How many days would it take to sell a home with these specs? I can’t answer this question. Of course, I can tell this person what the average number of days are to sell a home, but it’s just a very general number and may not apply to this home. Why can’t I give a better number? NEI-Not enough information. Here’s what I’d want to know to give a more accurate market

Are They Blind?
I can’t believe the various news sources reporting that many foreign governments are preparing to follow Gordon Browns lead on the economy. If they looked at the reality of The UK economy, rather than the bullshit that our government pours out to the media, they would know that we are damn near bankrupt, with many of our deficits hidden off the balance sheet. How can this government find all these billions to bail out the banks, where does it come from, how much of it is borrowed? [IMG [Blogli

Useful info?
It’s hard to determine what info is useful in the internet, theres just so much of it out there. From Japanese swords to acne products, everyone online has an opinion and thinks they’re absolutely dead on. So remember, take what you read with a grain of salt and don’t get too bent out of shape if you disagree.
10 Steps on How to Fix What Ails Us….
Barry Ritholtz, who I’ve never met, but I read a lot of what he says, lays out a pretty convincing case for the 10 steps listed below. I think they make a lot of sense. What do you think? Over the past several weeks and months, we have continually identified errors, flaws and mistakes being made by policy makers. Some of these errors were due to mistaken assumptions — that a firm like Lehman could go bankrupt without significant repercussions elsewhere in the financial system. Some were
