Tiger Woods is Golf
How else can you say it?
I have been watching golf for about 20 years now, and I can honestly say I can not recall the last time someone hit a ball off the roof of the clubhouse. And certainly, I can not recall anyone doing something like that AND winning …
Tiger Woods
Now here is a shocking headline.
“Tiger Woods is youngest player to reach the 50 win mark in PGA History.”
Wow, who would have thought the guy that plays this good would ever do that. There was even a headline somewhere wondering who would stop Tiger. Is someone supposed to ? What …
Game Day ... Buffalo Sabres at Florida Panthers ... Need more scoring ... On Frozen Poll: Name That Line
Big football game this weekend, with Buffalo-Miami week kicking off today in Sunrise. Strange week. The Sabres are in Fort Lauderdale playing ice hockey; the Dolphins are traveling to Toronto to play football. Hey, at least they're not going to Kanata. -- Not a whole lot going on at the skate today. PDeB says he's very happy for longtime friend Paul Maurice getting the Hurricanes gig. Says Jim Rutherford, also a friend of PDeB, is always thinking "outside the box" and making wise choices.

Experience a Florida Golf Vacation
While Florida’s tourism industry stemmed from its breathtaking beaches and world-renowned theme parks, it has established itself as a first-class golf destination. Although there are top golf courses to be found throughout the state, the areas of Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Miami are making the largest impact on the state’s golf industry. *Tampa Bay Area* The Tampa Bay Area is the fastest growing golf region in the state although it has not quite established itself among the “greats” yet.
Former Berean Academy golf standout passes away
Some sad and, quite frankly, difficult news to pass along today ... Harris Armstrong, a pretty good golfer for Berean Academy in 2007, died Monday after a long battle with an astrocytic spinal cord tumor. He was 12. Harris (left in photo) was quite an accomplished young golfer who often competed in national tournaments before falling ill a year ago. After the Times' Joe Smith chronicled Armstrong's fight last year, several well-known sports figures stepped up to make him feel a little bette
App v. App: Sportacular and SportsTap
Ahh, sports. The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat. If you are old enough, you probably remember the “agony of defeat” guy - painful on more than one level (for him, and for you if you are old enough to know what I’m talking about). I love me some sports, and thankfully there are some great sports apps for the iPhone. Two of my favorites are freebies - Sportacular and SportsTap. Which one has the edge? Who comes out on top as being more competitive and “sportier?” Who hits the shot at t
What’s in the Bag - Sergio Garcia
The fans of Sergio Garcia can rejoice because he is firmly the second best golfer (according to the world's golf rankings). With Tiger out with an injury, he might be on top soon. Hopefully, 2009 will be the year that Sergio wins his first major. I will be cheering him on because he is the best ball striker in the world! Let's see what his gear is! Driver: TaylorMade Tour Burner TP (9˚) Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Burner TP (14.5˚) and r7 TP (17.5˚) Irons: rac MB TP (3-PW) Wedges: rac

Tiger Woods, please come back! Post a comment Posted by: Robert MacMillan Tags: Mediafile, golf The Professional Golfers' Association, like everyone else who's world depends on business, is teeing off into what executives like to call headwinds. While the PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem seemed pretty confident about the state of play at the Reuters Media Summit in New York, he didn't shy away from being perfectly clear about life without legendary pro Tiger Woods -- now out with a bum knee.

An Interview with Ronald J Sloy - Local MLB Baseball Legend
I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating recently on a project with Portland’s own Ronald J Sloy, financial advisor, philanthropist and sports legend. Ron recently sat with me for an interview about playing baseball for a public school in Seattle to Major League Baseball in Montreal. Kent: Ron, thanks for sharing your time to inform us about your interesting baseball career here in Oregon. What got you interested in baseball and where did you get your start? Brand Lady Rakes In More Than Some Of Us Thought
Okay, it's not Finchem money, but based on reporting that I thought she was languishing at $500,000 a year. Nope. From Doug Ferguson's weekly notes column: According to the most recent IRS forms available for the LPGA Tour, commissioner Carolyn Bivens earned $710,812 in salary and benefits in 2006. Two years earlier, in his final full year as LPGA commissioner, Votaw was paid $478,897. With all of the great stuff she's done since 2006, I would hope she's reached the $1 million mark by now

“Right now, our focus is to add to our operating reserve and be in a position to transcend this downturn"
Tim Finchem, engaged in bold adverb usage with Bloomberg's Michael Buteau who asked about PGA Tour purses in the coming years: It will certainly flatten,” Finchem said in an interview with Bloomberg Radio’s “On the Ball” program that will air this weekend. “Whether it will go down, I’m not prepared to go that far. ‘‘I don’t see the kind of growth that we’ve had these next three or four years versus the last six or seven, and it might be a flat period.” And... “I suppose if the economy con
