Cory Lidle Plane Crash
I could not believe this happened. How can a plane, any size, fly around the New York City skyline? Especially after 9/11.
I thought for sure that the initial reports were wrong, but it actually happened. The plane Cory Lidle (New York Yankees pitcher) was flying was a Cirrus SR20, a …
One former Green has some integrity, even if the party does not
I received an interesting email from Marit Hegge and I reproduce below her letter sent to various news outlets: GREEN PARTY SUPPORT FOR LASHKAR-E-TAIBA MEMBER DAVID HICKS IS DESPICABLE A while back I resigned after 15 years of membership of the Queensland Green Party. I had been a founding member, state and local office bearer, national delegate, candidate, campaign manager and office worker for that party. My resignation related to the continuous and misguided support the Green Party has

If it was anyone else, they would be seeking in the higher millions. The paperwork filed says that the companies improperly operated and maintained the Learjet that overshot a

i say let them crash and burn
sure, i am probably not taking into account the devastation it will have on our already devastated economy but i can’t be the only one calling shenanigans on this. i thought we already established that our excessive use of automobiles and our reliance on oil is like a bad crack addiction? so while other car companies were focusing on creating more fuel and energy efficient ways to build their cars ford was focusing on building cars like this: the thing about this story that is so wack-att
Helmets
In reply to Flyboy: 1912: The wacky helmet is a direct result of 1st Lt. Thomas Selfridge. He was the first armed forces aviator to die in a plane crash. It is speculated that had he lived, Selfridge would have become an aviation marvel.
Moral Decision-Making Influenced By Hygiene
New research has found that the physical notion of cleanliness significantly reduces the severity of moral judgments, showing that intuition, rather than deliberate reasoning can influence our perception of what is right and wrong. “When we exercise moral judgment, we believe we are making a conscious, rational decision, but this research shows that we are subconsciously influenced by how clean or ‘pure’ we feel,” noted lead researcher Simone Schnall, explaining the relevance of the findings to
Famous Celebrity Scars

Let's take a look at some of the most famous facial scars and their origins.Harrison Ford's famous chin scar has been such a trademark for the actor, that in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the young adventurer cut his chin with a bullwhip. The truth is that the scar is the product of a car accident. Ford was supposedly trying to buckle his seat belt while driving. The real Indy

What good is a contract if the company fails?
A deal is a deal, right? Some readers on the blog have said as much in talking about concessions the UAW might be asked to make as GM goes for a Congressional stay of execution. But is there any other choice? Sure, the jobs bank program -- a nice idea in civilized times -- is a good thing. (Stop it. It is. If you were laid off, wouldn't you want some protection and time to find something else?) But when the plane is overweight and dropping fast, don't you toss off everything not nailed down in o

Welcome To Air RD
I reckon I would be classed as a fairly frequent flyer. I'm not one of those business "if it's Monday it must be New York" type of geezers although I guess I do fly quite often and I've got airmiles oozing out of most of my pores, yet only of the Sri Lankan and Singaporean variety. As the pauper I am I can't afford to fly business class either. I've been lucky enough to do it a few times, through usage of the accumulated airmiles and the occasional wad of cash, but generally you'll find me enscon

Feeling clean affects people severity in moral judgments
Even though most of us think that the decisions we make are rational and based on the way our mind is working, more and more research comes to prove that many times people are subconsciously influenced by many other factors including…cleanliness. New research in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science proves that, when exercising moral judgment the feeling of being “pure” or clean may make your decisions less harsh. Lead researcher, Simone Schnall,

Mommy
by Megan Collins I dreamt that a plane crash burned your body, that the ocean opened its mouth to swallow your ashes, and only your jewelry survived — the blue star with a diamond core; earrings to match. Nightgown ballooning around me, I ran to your room, begged for a space in your bed. Some nights, when you touched my temples, your fingers smelled like gardens. In your lullabies, the roofs on the houses were always thatched. Wearing your necklace and old bridesmaid dresses, I stuf
