Why Are Gas Prices So High?

For the most part I think I am a pretty intelligent guy, and for the life of me I can not answer this question.
It is getting crazy. Friday our local gas prices went up about 5 cents. I filled up somewhere near the top of that price range, around $3.49 a gallon. And that price was still there on Saturday.
On the way to work today, just 2 days later, that same gas station had the price at $3.61 a gallon.

Respect, it’s a thing of the past

Respect is something that has been lost on people and it is getting to the point where respect will soon be extinct, at least in Amercia.
There is a new cartoon television show about our current President. Like him or not, this is not good. It is one thing to have free speech, it is entirely different to be disrespectful of your leaders and country in a manner that makes the world look at us as a democracy run amuck.

John Kerry says Military people are not educated?

Once again, looks like John Kerry is the best thing for the Republicans. Kerry insulted anyone in the United States Military by saying…
“education, if you make the most of it and you study hard, you do your homework and make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t you get stuck in Iraq.” Source : John Kerry
According to some reports, Kerry just messed up a punch line. And that is believable, but, what he said was probably what he was thinking. And now it seems he has upset both Democrats and Republicans and cancelled [...]

Sick of Party Politics

Am I the only person sick of Party politics?
Yes, I think one party is better than the other, and I probably agree with 70 - 80% of their platform. But the rhetoric and bashing is driving me crazy. It seems nothing is about what people want anymore, it’s about which party can smear, attack and destroy the other side.
I would like to see one day, just one, where no one in the United States says the words Republican or Democrat. If you think someone is making a bad decision or is doing something stupid, then say that, without using the [...]

Fox News says hurricane might nix Monday-night Bush speech at GOP convention

POSTSCRIPT: If Gustav spawns a significant disaster on the Gulf Coast next week, it’s likely also to be a disaster for Republicans. Even if President Bush dutifully absents himself from the convention to attend to storm relief, the emergency will serve as a reminder of the administration’s scandalous mishandling of the Katrina aftermath three years ago. We might also see video clips of Bush merrily gifting John McCain with a birthday cake in Arizona at the very hour that Katrina was ravagi
