As a kid growing up I was a major NFL Football fan. My beloved Dallas Cowboys were as close to my heart as anything else in life. Over the years I never missed a game. In 1997 when I moved to Mississippi I purchased Direct TV for the sole purpose …

SHEEDtastic in San Antonio

SHEEDtastic in San Antonio December 3rd, 2008 Written by: Natalie Sitto It came together last night for Detroit in San Antonio. It took almost the whole game to do it, but it finally did. On the heels of some great play by the bench, Allen Iverson’s shot falling and a Rasheed technical that fired him up to 17 second half points, Detroit took down the Spurs 89-77. Key Points: Detroit started a bit flat footed but this time they didn’t let Spurs jump ahead to a big lead. The Spurs never lead

Line Of The Night — The Dunleavy Trance

by Shannon Booher Line Of The Night: Nene — 19 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks We come back from Turkey Time for this? Absolutely no one qualifies for any of the L.O.N. special sections? Come on y’all. The importance of this line is that it even had the opportunity to happen. Nene’s career has been racked by injuries and setbacks (and that’s WAY too weak of a word for cancer), and maybe this year, under the radar, he’s fulfilling some of that potential. Stay healthy, dunny! Worst Of

Ballin’: Midwest Mystery … Pacers Surprise Lakers

LA Lakers 117, Indiana 118: The Lakers collapsed in the fourth quarter, blowing a 15-point lead and Troy Murphy tipped in the game-winner at the buzzer as the Pacers dealt LA its second loss of the season. The Pacers are only 7-10, but they are also the only team this season to defeat last year’s NBA Finalists. Portland 104, New York 97: Greg Oden was ineffective (1-for-5, two points, seven boards in 19 minutes) and missed two dunks, but it didn’t matter because Brandon Roy went for 23 and R

The Post Up: Nuggets Slaughter Raptors

by Holly MacKenzie Well, I don’t even know where to begin. I worked a night shift last night, as I did last week, so today will be more of one big recap rather than separate ones for each game. It’s currently 1:47 a.m. and my weak ass wrists are burning. Hate that. Anyway, what a night of NBA basketball it was. First of all. Indiana taking down the Lakers 118-117 on a tip in from Troy Murphy at the buzzer. Danny Granger had 32 points, Rasho Nesterovic had 16 and 10 and T.J. Ford added 21 and

Rasheed Masters The Moment Pistons Spank Spurs 89-77

Could it be? Could it be that Detroit Pistons big man Rasheed Wallace is finally growing up? Rather than imploding after receiving a technical foul with 6:09 remaining in the thirdquarter of his team’s game against the San Antonio Spurs as his been the case throughout his career, he  channeled his aggression positively. Rasheed keyed up three times and hit treys in the fourth quarter, and scored 17 points from the last 3:00 minutes of the third through the end of the game. The Pistons shot 50

Harris

Looking back now, Devin Harris says he shouldn’t have been surprised. These were the Dallas Mavericks. Mark Cuban’s Mavericks. Steve Nash wasn’t re-signed. Michael Finley was waived. Nick Van Exel was traded. Even Harris himself landed in Big D because the Mavericks shipped out Antawn Jamison. Cuban ran one of the best franchises in the NBA, and, unlike many of his fellow owners, he wasn’t afraid to gamble. He had given Harris the security of a five-year, $42 million contract extension,

Pistons vs Spurs

Pistons vs Spurs December 2nd, 2008 Written by: Natalie Sitto The Pistons will try to get back on track today in San Antonio. The Piston have lost three of their last five game and still look like a team in transition. To make matters worse, coach Curry is calling out his players and had to explain why. “Curry said Monday that he expects his starters will continue to play fewer minutes than they are used to. “Young guys haven’t played,” he said. “At the end of the year, guys are tired. Y’a
