BYOBW - Gotta Love It
Now this is why we love the Internet. Years ago, there could have been a really fun event somewhere and we would have never known about it, unless it got picked up on the wire and aired on the national news. And being a fun local event would probably keep it from doing just that. But now, not only do we know about these things, we get to read blogs and see video instantly.
The Bring Your Own Big Wheel event on Lombard Street in San Francisco looks like a lot of fun, and is getting a lot of Blog Press!
WHAT BIG OIL PROFITS CAN BUY
By John Bisnar Outrage hit a fever pitch when Exxon Mobil released its latest record quarterly profits. There was no denying that the results Exxon posted amount to a lot of cash. But where do they spend it all? Here’s one source: funding phony think tanks that advocate eliminating the minimum wage, deny global warming, and hope to prevent Americans from receiving justice through the legal system. Look no further than San Francisco based Pacific Research Institute (PRI). Like other “tort re

havin’ a heat wave…
…a tropical heat wave Ok maybe not so tropical, but it’s been hot the last couple of days here at Meebo headquarters in Mountain View, CA. In the bay area we are used to staying within a certain range of temperatures. Basically, 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s 18-24 C for most of the rest of the world (something about 32, 5/9, and the cube root of pi). Though likely apocryphal, Mark Twain has been quoted as saying, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” That’s beca

Filthy Pervert Bernie Ward Receives Light Sentence on Child Porn Charges
He should have got twenty years but instead got a little over seven. Hopefully it’ll be a miserable seven years, because he deserves to suffer for what he did, and tried to do: With his sobbing family looking on in a San Francisco courtroom, former KGO radio host Bernie Ward today completed his tumble from one of the Bay Area’s most popular liberal voices on the local airwaves to a pariah caught up in the world of online child pornography. Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker sentenced War
$70 Million Condo Hits the Market in San Francisco
If you’re looking to make a splash in the San Francisco real estate market, here’s your opportunity. Real estate mogul Victor MacFarlane has placed his unfinished 20,000 square foot penthouse in the St. Regis Residences on the market for $70 Million. A shocking price tag by any standards, but especially eye-catching in San Francisco (our home town), where the highest amount paid for a single family residence or condo is $32 million. So what does $70 million buy you? In addition to choosing

San Francisco, social Utopia or free-for-all detritus dump? Such was this week's condundrum, as our readers sent in sighting after sighting of artful garbage arrangements. A start-up reflects
Billflo is an app to create, manage and email invoices. My attention was drawn to Billflo by their CEO who commented on one of my posts. I’m looking forward to meeting up with them in San Francisco next week, and discussing their plans for the business. Outside of that they actually do, I was interested to read a post on their blog where they give some observations at the end of 42 days in operation as a start-up. It’s an interesting post - their main points are; 1. Customers are great…but to
