Hook ‘em Horns

Texas 41 - USC 38
How sweet it is !! First college game I have watched in a long time. And well worth the time too. My wife made the comment that it looked like Texas was totally dependent on the play of Vince Young and that made her nervous. Well, true as it was, he came through in the clutch and won the game. Congratulations TEXAS !
USC is no doubt a great team, and this was a great game by all accounts. Matt Leinhart played a great game as did LenDale White & Reggie Bush. This game will certainly go [...]

Back to Work

Finally back to work today. I have been off since last Wednseday, and I was ready to come back to work. Vacation and Holidays always sound great, but, after a few days I am always ready to get back to my regular schedule. I know, I must be sick or something. I really enjoy my work and look forward to each day in the office. Oh yeah, I have those days where I am tired of it, but, for the most part I really like it.
The NFL season is over and my beloved Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs again. [...]

Here it is, the Fulmer’s Belly ballot for the CBS Sports blogpoll, sponsored by Brian at Mgoblog.  So just remember, whatever sorrows we’re having here at Tennessee, our football bretheren over at Michigan are having quite the same season after losing to Toledo (Toledo is a Native American meaning ‘A Monkey’s Penis’) 13-0. Rank Team Delta 1 Alabama – 2 Texas 3 3 Penn State 1 4 Florida 11 5 Southern Cal 2 6 Oklahoma State 8 7 Oklahoma 5 8 Texas Tech –

Texas Longhorns "beat the hell outta OU" at Red River Rivalry in Fair Park

I always love a good upset. Well, not always. I always love when my team upsets another team, not the other way around.

Longhorns move to #1 in new Top 16+1

The latest Stiles Points Top 16+1 (games through 10/11/08)...the Top 16+1 appeared for the first time last week and already there is another new #1...and just as fast as Vanderbilt broke into the rankings, they were banished after a loss to Mississippi State... (note, the second number in parenthesis is the previous week's ranking)... 1. Texas (6-0) (5) - the Longhorns were impressive, but they cannot celebrate too much as Missouri comes to Austin this Saturday... 2. Penn State (7-0) (4) - JoeP

NCAA Power Rankings: Week 8

After a big win against Oklahoma, Texas has taken the top spot in this week’s power rankings, which feature many changes in the top 10. 1. Texas Longhorns (6-0) Previous: 4 Oklahoma has sat atop the New Era Scouting rankings for most of the season, but the Longhorns’ win against the Sooners makes them deserving of the No. 1 spot. Colt McCoy may be the favorite for the Heisman Trophy now, although he must keep up the strong play this Saturday against Missouri. 2. Alabama Crimson Tide (6-0)

Texas Longhorns move up to number one in polls

After a big win over Oklahoma, Texas football is number one in both major polls released today.

Past and Present

Although I consider myself a Texas girl, I spent the first 6 years of my life in Oklahoma. At the young age of 6, I thought Oklahoma was the perfect place. I even threatened to move back when I became of age, but as I grew up I learned that Dallas offers more — much more. At some point, I left behind the childish idea of moving back to Oklahoma and decided to stay in Texas. I can’t even fathom living there now. Yes, I have become a tried and true Texan. Yet there are a few things from my earl

How Many Poppets Does It Take To Screw In A Lightbulb?

First can I get a big Woo Hoo! for the Texas Longhorns and their rise to #1! Now how ’bout that 96-yard field goal return from Jordan Shipley?  Give that boy a second helping of pie tonight!  In honor of yesterday’s victory, I’m leaving my UT cap on for the rest of the week.  Way to go, kids! Next, may I just tell you that I might well be the most handy woman in Texas this weekend.  Today I repaired Bunnie’s ceiling fan and replaced the light kit on it, then I replaced Bear’s ceiling fan and

Big 12 Football Report, v 1.7

The week in Big XII football. THE RUNDOWN Texas 45 Oklahoma 35 [Box / Recap / Blog Coverage] Texas' 45 points tied for the most ever scored by the Longhorns in the series, matching the 2005 national title winning squad. And the last time Texas defeated a #1 ranked team in the regular season? That would be 1963, when the 'Horns took down Oklahoma 28-7 en route to Darrell Royal's first national title. Time to celebrate? No! But... still, you might be as surprised as I was to discover that 10

Hey, I like Brent Musberger

Shooting from the Lip Looking back at a weekend of televised sports ... Best announcing team of the weekend I know a lot of people out there don't like ABC's Brent Musberger, but I wonder if that's just more of a cliche for sports fans. "Oh, I hate Musberger,'' they say without really listening to the job he does. He's really not that bad, especially when you compare him to a lot of the dead weight out there calling football games. He and partner Kirk Herbstreit (a commentator who is always g

The Great Hype Machine

Tony brought up an interesting point yesterday about Cal football players drinking the Kool-Aid.  More so than in any other sport, the best college football teams swing dramatically in their performance week-to-week. While we haven’t had outright stinkers in huge games we’re expected to win, the Golden Bears usually earn the maximum effort from our opponents while they struggle with their mental focus. Result: Painful loss that causes fan to drink heavily until blacked out. The Washington St

Congratulations to the # 1 Longhorns!

What an exciting weekend for Texas football. Even Aggie fans are happy to see the Longhorns make it to # 1:"Texas (6-0) received 39 first-place votes and 1,599 points to leapfrog No. 2 Alabama, which was idle over the weekend. The Crimson Tide (6-0) received the other 26 first-place votes and 1,582 points. There was even more distance between the top two spots in the USA Today poll, which accounts for one-third of the formula used in the Bowl Championship Series rankings. Texas received 44 first

Cards swoop in to land Tyler

Cards swoop in to land Tyler October 12, 2008 Louisville coach Rick Pitino appears to spreading his recruiting tentacles, getting a verbal committment from 6-9 junior Jeremy Tyler (San Diego High). Tyler is a top-10 prospect in his class who played in the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game in late August. Not to be outdone, Kentucky has landed 6-10 Daniel Orton of Bishop McGuinness in Oklahoma City, one of the two best prospects along with 6-6 forward Xavier Henry of Putnam City in that underrated

Texas Vs. Baylor Fall game

The Balyor Ballpark- Photo Provided by Donald J Boyles I made the trek up I-35 to Waco to catch the Texas/Baylor football game…err baseball game. It was a great fall day in Waco to get in a 14 inning scrimmage between two Big 12 opponent. Skip Johnson started Chance Ruffin on the mound while Steve Smith countered with a Freshman Logan Verrett. In 3 innings of Work for Ruffin he gave up five hits and three runs while two of those runs were earned. Verrett on the other hand was very impressive

Week 7 Wrapup: Ratings, Notes, First Look Ahead

Week 7 Wrapup: Ratings, Notes, First Look Ahead October 12th, 2008 by Huckleberry Ratings Update Even though it was expected that Texas would move up to #1 in both the All Teams ratings as well as the Division 1-A Teams only ratings, I had no idea how ridiculous the rating value for Texas would be. Equally amazing is the all Big 12 South top 3 and 5 of […]
